Format:Audio CD
I was fortunate enough to catch these guys live a few weeks back on their Killer Grass tour and I think their two hour set included every track off the CD. The covers get ever more ambitious, including Mozarts 'Eine Kleine Nachtmusik' and Queens utterly uncoverable 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. (The crowd went nuts!). The original material is as strong as ever, particularly 'Tolerance' ('People say we need tolerance, I wish I could give 'em some of mine!'), the cautionary 'In The Backyard' and the hysterical 'Alien Abduction Probe'. Awesome musicianship and Hard-drinking, S**tkicking Hillbilly attitude, what more could you ask for?!

Moving back to more familiar territory after the all original "No Covers" CD, this is another mix of self-penned songs and inspired cover versions from the boys from Deer Lick Holler. While there's at least one throw-away song ("Alien Abduction Probe"), the majority of the original songs are really strong notably "Tolerance", "In The Backyard" and "She's Just My Type". The cover versions are fabulous and increasingly ambitious. The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again" and Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" work well on banjo, mandolin and fiddle and the musicianship on Hayseed's take on Mozart,"Eine Kleine Trinkmusik", is jaw-droppingly good (the first example of Classical Grass?)
The CD package is also a lesson to the major bands and labels wondering how to sell physical product and avoid piracy of MP3s. The bonus DVD has videos for a good number of the songs (Bohemian Rhapsody is a scream) as well as "Instructional Videos". These are all useful covering as they do how to play certain songs on Banjo, how to tell the BNP are racist with one phone call and how to bury a body should somebody official find your moonshine operation. Also included are wav. files allowing you to create your own 8-trach mixes of all the songs on the CD, including one song ("Cult Band") only included as a video.
In Summmary: genius in an excellent value package.
