Product Description

The deaths of four British soldiers, two of them ex SAS, appear at first to be accidental. In fact, they have been targeted by a group of hired assassins, known as the Clinic. This group of contract killers is systematically tracking down elite servicemen and killing them one by one...

Desperate to stop the murders, a group of four men, the Feather Men, are recruited to hunt down the Clinic and avenge the soldiers' deaths. But will they get to them in time and what's driving the Clinic's own brutal form of justice?

Ranulph Fiennes, himself a former SAS officer, uses his unique knowledge to craft this amazing thriller, now a major film, featuring Robert De Niro, Jason Statham and Clive Owen.

Previously published as The Feather Men. The film KILLER ELITE is released in the UK on the 23rd September 2011.

In 1993 he was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for 'human endeavour and charitable services' because, on the way to breaking records, he has raised over £14 million for charity. He was named Best Sportsman in the 2007 ITV Great Briton Awards. In 2008 he became the oldest Briton to reach the summit of Everest.

By Rowena Hoseason TOP 50 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
I'm a big fan of Ran Fiennes' non-fiction biographical and adventure books, and am looking forward to the film of 'Killer Elite' so figured this book would be a perfect combination. Sadly... wrong.
It's strangely written as a kind of true-life thriller, with a smattering of background history to various Arab states and covert military organisations. The action hops about all over the place and the characters are thinly-drawn; they may well represent real people, but they plod along in an almost mechanical fashion, speaking painfully stilted dialogue. The overall plot is intriguing and the book itself is an interesting read with many insights into covert operations -- but it's hardly the octane-laden thriller which current hype would have us believe. One of the opening segments shows us how the 'Feather Men' deal with a drug lord in Bristol, and it may well be accurate, but it felt less real than most hyped-up fiction. In trying not to glorify violence, I suspect the author has gone too far in the right direction and the result is a rather blunted instrument.
Informative but hardly easy to read, and unlike to satisfy fans of Jack Reacher and the like.

Astounding book 14 Sep 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
A good read which starts in similar fashion to many of Ranulph's other non-fiction titles.
The opening leaves a questioning doubt over the stories origins. Is it fiction or non-fiction? Not having conclusively got an answer prior to picking up this book, it finishes with a first person account in the final part, one is left feeling little doubt that this is a non-fiction title.
In short good book from an inspiring author, which I recommend a read before the movie comes out. Surely hollywood cannot do this justice?

Killer Book 20 April 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a re-release of the epic book "The Feather Men" under a new title. I don't know why but the original isn't in print any more. I haven't seen the film "Killer Elite" but from reading the reviews it only seems to have a passing resemblance to the book.

Any way, the book is a fine read and Ranulf Fiennes includes a lot of fine detail that only somebody who has "read the book, ate the pie" would know. It is a classic tale of revenge with a good twist at the end that makes you wonder whether it is fiction or real.

Hats off for an enjoyable read.
