I've been doing many of Jillian's video's the last few years- I started with the Shred and Ripped in 30, and after doing those and losing most of the 35 pounds I needed to lose, I figured it was time to TONE. So I moved onto 6 weeks to a 6 pack and Killer Buns & Thighs. All 4 of those video's I LOVE. I still do them on occasion, I just rotate. And, just an FYI, I never do her recommended 5x a week or whatever it is. I also run and bike, so I alternate days. I think it's a good combo, as I consider a lot of her workouts more strength training, with definite cardio mixed in. Anyway, I LOVE 6 weeks to a 6 pack, I love that my heart rate is up, and even after a year and a half of doing it, whenever I pop it in, I still burn nearly 200 calories (keep in mind I'm 5' tall, 115lbs, so for most people you'll burn way more)! I don't necessarily feel a burn after it, but I have SEEN wonderful results!! I never thought I'd see my abs again after having kids, but I do now. :)
So...lately I'd been doing No More Trouble Zones(which FYI, has some GREAT ab circuits, where you will definitely feel a burn!), which I also LOVE, since it works ALL my muscles, in addition to Banish Fat Boost Metabolism, since that is great cardio. However I felt it was time to work on my abs again and wanted to switch it up, since I know that doing the same workout, your body can get used to. Needless to say I was excited to see this new DVD from Jillian. I have tried out all the levels and here are my thoughts:
#1 Level 1 of Killer Abs is too basic, your heart rate does not get up enough! I only burn 120 calories, that's nothing for 30 mins. Level 2 is better, but I forgot to wear my garmin so not sure how many I burn. Basically, when I do level 1, I am able to do level 2 right after...which is unusual for a Jillian DVD. But, at least I am burning a bit more. Level 3 is better- 200 calories. So, in the future I'll not bother with level 1 and only do 2 and 3...I burn 200 calories doing 6 pack, so anything less is a waste for me.
#2 Moves in 6 pack are a bit easier to follow and I feel the instruction Jillian gives a little clearer so you get the hang of it. I am little bit challenged when it comes to learning new moves, so if it's tricky, I need a clear instruction and a few seconds to get the hang of it. That's it, I don't' need it slo-mo or anything like that, but this was a little fast for me for such moves...several I'd say are a bit bizarre for sure.
I still feel the dvd is a great value- all of her dvd's you can find for under $10, here or in stores. I normally shop Amazon for video's- great prices! You can even get sales as low as $7, so you can't beat that- esp. for a video with 3 levels of workouts!!
