4.0 out of 5 stars Close but No Cigar. 15 Feb 2013
By Lauren
So I always await new Jillian DVDs in a very excited manner, I loved her first offering of 6 week 6 pack but thought this wasn't as good. I am of a very high level of fitness and jumped straight to level 2 and 3 back to back to give it a good try out. The moves are great, the order in which they are constructed are killer and some of the exercises you will have never seen before! However I felt that 4 circuits in the space of 30 minutes was two rushed so you didn't really get to max out the burn on each exercise before moving onto the next one. It also lacked a little of Jillian's trademark killer cardio. But if you're looking for new ideas for your ab work out go get it because some of them are really reinventing the wheel.

Jillian Michaels works with 2 other ladies, Natalia and Nicola. One lady usually shows an easier version, while the other demonstrates an intense version, sometimes adding a light weight or two (about 5 lbs) to increase intensity.

Be ready to move, because they go quickly from one exercise to another.

I liked all 3 levels or workouts and they are doable on the first try, with a few modifications. So, don't be afraid to try level 2 or 3.

Perhaps, the only thing I would like to see is adding a couple of more reps per exercise.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Bad, But Like 6 Week 6 Pack Better 2 Jan 2013
By Theresa W - Published on Amazon.com
I've been doing many of Jillian's video's the last few years- I started with the Shred and Ripped in 30, and after doing those and losing most of the 35 pounds I needed to lose, I figured it was time to TONE. So I moved onto 6 weeks to a 6 pack and Killer Buns & Thighs. All 4 of those video's I LOVE. I still do them on occasion, I just rotate. And, just an FYI, I never do her recommended 5x a week or whatever it is. I also run and bike, so I alternate days. I think it's a good combo, as I consider a lot of her workouts more strength training, with definite cardio mixed in. Anyway, I LOVE 6 weeks to a 6 pack, I love that my heart rate is up, and even after a year and a half of doing it, whenever I pop it in, I still burn nearly 200 calories (keep in mind I'm 5' tall, 115lbs, so for most people you'll burn way more)! I don't necessarily feel a burn after it, but I have SEEN wonderful results!! I never thought I'd see my abs again after having kids, but I do now. :)

So...lately I'd been doing No More Trouble Zones(which FYI, has some GREAT ab circuits, where you will definitely feel a burn!), which I also LOVE, since it works ALL my muscles, in addition to Banish Fat Boost Metabolism, since that is great cardio. However I felt it was time to work on my abs again and wanted to switch it up, since I know that doing the same workout, your body can get used to. Needless to say I was excited to see this new DVD from Jillian. I have tried out all the levels and here are my thoughts:

#1 Level 1 of Killer Abs is too basic, your heart rate does not get up enough! I only burn 120 calories, that's nothing for 30 mins. Level 2 is better, but I forgot to wear my garmin so not sure how many I burn. Basically, when I do level 1, I am able to do level 2 right after...which is unusual for a Jillian DVD. But, at least I am burning a bit more. Level 3 is better- 200 calories. So, in the future I'll not bother with level 1 and only do 2 and 3...I burn 200 calories doing 6 pack, so anything less is a waste for me.

#2 Moves in 6 pack are a bit easier to follow and I feel the instruction Jillian gives a little clearer so you get the hang of it. I am little bit challenged when it comes to learning new moves, so if it's tricky, I need a clear instruction and a few seconds to get the hang of it. That's it, I don't' need it slo-mo or anything like that, but this was a little fast for me for such moves...several I'd say are a bit bizarre for sure.

I still feel the dvd is a great value- all of her dvd's you can find for under $10, here or in stores. I normally shop Amazon for video's- great prices! You can even get sales as low as $7, so you can't beat that- esp. for a video with 3 levels of workouts!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Workout with All New Moves! 29 Sep 2012
By Nancy - Published on Amazon.com

This is one of the only reviews I've ever written, but I love this dvd, and so I decided to write a review. I never watched Biggest Loser but I got into Jillian Michaels' workouts several years ago. I own every one of her workouts that I know of hers except the teen one. I really like that her workouts are super hard and challenging, and almost all of them are around 30 minutes with a few exceptions. Killer Abs is one of my absolute favorites of all of her workouts. I love the non-traditional ab moves, and she added tons of new moves and modifications on older moves from previous workouts. This workout works lots of muscle groups, not just the abs, which is an added benefit. I also own her Body Revolution which I highly recommend as well. It's pricey but worth it since you get 15 workouts, a workout cable, and some extras. I rotate all of her videos, even the easier ones. I found that you can modify or substitute harder exercises for the easier ones found on some of her level 1 workouts on her dvds. Here are my favorite Jillian workout videos in order from best to least favorite:
1. Killer Abs
2. Body Revolution dvd set
3. Ripped in 30
4. Extreme Shed & Shred
5. No More Trouble Zones
6. 30 Day Shred
7. 6 Week Six-Pack
8. Yoga Meltdown
9. Killer Buns & Thighs
10. Banish Fat Boost Metabolism
11. The Biggest Winner 5 dvd set
12. The Last Chance Workout
13. Power Sculpt
14. Kickbox Fast Fix
15. Beginners Frontside & Backside

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great set of workouts from Jillian! 6 Sep 2012
By Cara Stone - Published on Amazon.com

I pre-ordered this DVD & was SO excited that it was waiting in my mailbox when I got home yesterday! So I did Level 1 yesterday, then sat down and watched Levels 2 & 3, which I usually do before trying any new workout. While I didn't find it to be quite as cardio-intensive as 6 pack abs (which I LOVE), the exercises are ALL new, mostly non-traditional & tough! The ones that are *somewhat* familiar, have a new twist on them; like instead of doing plank jacks or plank moguls as a cardio interval, we do a hybrid called 'Plank Jack Moguls.'

Love that Natalie (from 30-Day Shred, among other Jillian workouts) is back for this one. She's doing the 'Beginner' or 'Modified' workout, but after she shows the modified version, sometimes Jill will hand her a weight or let her show an even more advanced version of the exercise than what the other girl, Nicola (sp?) is doing. You can tell Nat kinda likes that, 'cause she's in great shape...certainly NOT a 'beginner!' Both ladies look GREAT & are very inspirational! Nicola has abs that you will not believe! :-)

The only thing I didn't like was the fact that there's a brief plug for Jillian's 360 armband during Level 1 & Level 2 (dont recall if there was one in Level 3). Not sure why; it just bugged me a little. Advertisements elsewhere on the DVD are fine, just not mid-workout (though obviously more people will see it that way)!

I'm in pretty good shape & not at all new to Jillian's workouts. I have ALL of her DVDs, which I alternate, working out with them 3 days a week in addition to running 4-6 days a week, averaging 25-30 miles a week. But I was definitely *challenged* by some of the Level 1 exercises. I did modified versions of a few & was able to do advanced versions of others. I look forward to trying out Levels 2 & 3 SOON!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Ab Workout! 28 Aug 2013
By Sarah - Published on Amazon.com
I am a huge Jillian Michaels fan. I started working out with her Body Revolution 90 day program about eight months ago and it changed my life. I have never gone back to being sedentary and have done a number of her DVDs since, including 30 Day Shred, Ripped in 30, No More Trouble Zones, Banish Fat Boost Metabolism, Six Week Six Pack, and Yoga Meltdown.

I have recently started doing Killer Abs and have decided to do each of the three levels every day for five days. I have to say that this is one of my favorite workouts of hers I've ever done. I've read some of the other reviews from people stating that they didn't feel this workout was hard enough, or that they weren't seeing results or that they didn't feel it was as good as her other workouts. To that I say this: if you feel this workout is "too easy", then you're not working hard enough. Jillian gives great examples of beginner, intermediate, and advanced modifications to each move in order to help you get the most out of your workout. Anyone who feels it's too easy can add weights to the moves or follow Jillian's instructions to make the moves more advanced.

I also really like that Jillian uses some different moves in this workout from her other "old school" videos. Her other videos are incredibly effective, but it's nice to see a new batch of exercises and combinations that still give your abs a fantastic workout. It's nice to try new exercises and not be bored by seeing Jillian's tried and true exercises that she repeats in several videos.

With that being said, I will admit that this video can be difficult to follow if you just try it without watching it first. I think anyone who wants to try this workout would benefit from sitting down and watching the entire workout BEFORE proceeding with trying it yourself, because then you can see how each exercise is done before you attempt it. That way you can spend less time trying to watch to "follow along" and more time perfecting your form and actually doing the workout.

I can't wait to see what my abs look like after three weeks! If I know Jillian, I'll get results!
