I stumbled upon this by chance. I like Jack Scalia so I bought this DVD, however in this movie he plays a baddie but a vulnerable and redeemable one. The title is a misnomer, and the cover advertising is deceptive. For instance Dennis Richards is in the movie for all a few seconds and blink she is gone yet she gets top billing for the cover and blurb. If you can get past the false advertising and your not watching for Dennis Richards then you will enjoy the movie.
A group of six young university students from different cultural, financial and social background live in the same condo complex on the beach in Malibu. The Condo is owned by the restaurant owner Jake, their benefactor. Each having their own story and problems but united they formed a formidable volley ball team for Jake's restaurant and played in a charity tournament against the unbeaten all-stars team, this was the climax of the movie. Amongst them is a beautiful model Stacey (Jacqueline Collen) who was in hiding from her agent and manager husband Daniel (Jack Scalia). The common thread was centred on Stacey's story but each character had their own story. All the parallel stories somehow come together in the end. Stacey's story had an obsessed and crazy husband who was stalking her, with creepy phone calls and breaks into her apartment, he kidnapped the child she was baby-sitting believing it was their baby. Daniel is a very powerful man and one not to cross, what now when Stacey rejects him to his face and will not give their marriage another chance, will he kill her or himself? The stories felt unfinished; there was not enough background and depth to the characters and their story. It felt like a pilot, an introduction to a series with more to come. I don't even know if this movie was released as I could not find it on the IMDB. However it was enjoyable to watch.
The DVD comes with special features which include theatrical trailers, behind the scene featurette, director and cast information, scene selection and fully interactive menus. With an all star cast of Jack Scalia, Elliot Gould, Gianni Russo, Jacqueline Collen, Casper Van Dien, Catherine Lazo, Ria Pava and Dennis Richards to mention a few, the movie was well dramatised and acted in an old style Hitchcock suspence without real violence, so can be viewed by a wider audience.
