A clever , fast- paced novel set in the rock music and television world. The question of why some performers have a magnetic charisma over millions of fans intrigues t.v. journalist Kate. With the promise of an exclusive interview with Jesse Gadden. the star of the moment and the hope that she will connect to the wave length of his fans through the lyrics of his songs, she becomes involved with his world. Our sense of dread is acquired early on and gathers momentum throughout the story. Echoes of the t.v. series The Prisoner many years ago. I page turned all night.

The plausibility and pace of this murderous chain of events is genuinely thrilling. The pop and media worlds are brilliantly portrayed and the central character is an unnerving creation.

Ray Connolly knows how to tell a story and here he is back in territory he knows well. It's a gripping storyline and an unusual idea. I thoroughly enjoyed this one; what more is there to say?
