An interesting book penned by a first time author which proved to be a really good debut novel.

Medical conspiracies are not the easiest type of fiction to find original formulas for. However this tale of drug trials, their exploitation & manipulation for profit, blended with murders numerically on the level of the fictional English county of Midsomer is a really enjoyable read. There are many deft twists to the tale of Chiropracter David Stichell's descent into a world of treachery as events spiral out of his control.

It provided a satisfying & engaging read with a totally unexpected twist at the end.

The author, himself a chiropractor who has studied immunology and developmental genetics, has obviously drawn on his own knowledge and experience so the story comes across as having a solid foundation. I did feel some of the medical terminology would possibly be a little too much for some readers, but it certainly does not distract from the storyline.

The complex tale is portrayed with an excellent writing style although I felt a touch less dialogue and more narrative could be beneficial?

I was going to give four stars based on the two very minor criticisms cited above but on reflection have allocated five. This was because I only found two typos in the whole book - a pretty remarkable achievement! - also as it was certainly a very good purchase and I hope to read more by this author in the future, so I felt overall it did indeed merit five stars.

Chiropractor, David Stichell (Stich), is one of the participants in a trial testing a new drug designed to shrink cancer tumours. The action starts when his fiancée, a scientist working on the same trial, is fatally shot. Escaping with a gunshot wound to the leg, Stich goes on the run from both the police and the criminals who want him dead.

A fast and furious medical thriller, gripping from start to finish. Twists and turns galore, this is one of those books that plays like a movie in your head.

Davison's clean, tight writing style lends itself particularly well to this genre.

An impressive debut. I loved it. Michael Palmer and Tess Gerritsen fans will, too.

Kill and Cure 8 Jun 2009
Format:Paperback
Once I started reading this book I couldn't put it down. It was fast paced and extremely exciting. Really edge of your seat stuff. There were twists and turns along the way which were completely unexpected. If you like fast pace, crime thrillers then this is the book for you. I highly recommend this book and will be waiting eagerly for another book from this author.

Not being honest with the reader
The main criticism is that, as we are being told the story from the point of view of the "hero", David, we should know what he's been up to, from the start. Read more

A bit too involved
A good storyline that has too many characters and too much medical jargon. I had to force myself to finish this as it was just getting tedious towards the end.
