Having always encouraged my children to keep 'holiday diaries' I was looking for something a little more interesting and 'cool' for my 10 year old son this year for our summer holiday. It seemed most printed holiday diaries were aimed at the younger child and therefore not appropriate. This one, however, proved to be a great hit! With cool type, illustrations, and even travel games ideas, he enjoyed having this and filling it in. There is a really good introduction to going on holiday "Part 1 - getting ready" which my son loved filling in - what he wanted to do before he went, what he wanted to do on holiday, etc. There are 28 daily diary pages which are a two page spread of each day, including what you did, what you liked best, what was funny, what you ate, what you bought, and space for a picture (we also stuck in some photos). It ends with games to play, 3 pages for scrapbook memories and a page of 'final words' including good/bad times and rating the holiday. It did not take him long to complete each day and ultimately made him reflect on an amazing holiday! The size worked well too - it is about A5 size and quite slim so very easy to fit in his hand luggage.
For us, I would have liked a bit more space for photos/scrapbook memories, and if we were on a holiday/trip in which we did a lot each day there would not be the space to write about everything (but may be that's not the point for a 10 year old!!) but other than that I would recommend this for the older child (8-11 years).
