5.0 out of 5 stars Great for parties or school holidays, 17 Feb 2004
This review is from: Kids' Party Games and Activities: Hundreds of Exciting Things to Do at Parties for Kids 2-12 (Children's Party Planning Books) (Paperback)
I bought this book as my son's 7th birthday is fast approaching and I realised that I could only remember a few party games that I did as a child.
This book has proved to be a real life-saver - it is set out in groups of different ages which is great as my 4 year old daughter is having some friends at the party too. Each double spread page is set out with the typical age group, the optional ages (good when there are mixed ages at the party!), how many players are needed, and what the object of the game is. It then describes in detail what is needed, as well as optional changes you could make and trouble-shooting tips.
There is also a section on group activities that I can see will come in very handy when I am wondering what to do with my children during the school holidays!
All in all I am very pleased with it and I can see that I will get many years of value from it.

4.0 out of 5 stars packed with ideas, 8 Mar 2010

I bought this book for ideas for my daughter's 7th birthday party which I decided to have at home. Since they are beyond the traditionally familiar games like 'pass-the-parcel' I was looking for inspiration for games more suited to older kids. There were loads of ideas to choose from, very helpfully grouped into age-appropriate chapters. Although an American book, the vast majority of ideas were usable or adaptable and most required very little in the way of resources which kept the cost of the party low. I've recommended it to two friends.

2.0 out of 5 stars A bit disappointing..., 3 Mar 2011
This review is from: Kids' Party Games and Activities: Hundreds of Exciting Things to Do at Parties for Kids 2-12 (Children's Party Planning Books) (Paperback)
I have to say I was expecting some new and inventive ideas for party games and it just wasn't the case. It might as well have had the title 'lets think of some ideas for a day out and then waffle on for two pages about what we know will be there'. There's a few good games but overall it's more about what to do for a birthday or what kind of theme to use, not great ideas for party games which was what I expected.
