About the Author

War Child was founded in 1993 in response to the plight of children caught in the war in former Yugoslavia. Supporting children of all ages and ethnic backgrounds, it began organising aid convoys of food and clothing, providing medical equipment to hospitals in Croatia and Bosmia, supplying musical instruments and CDs to young people and radio stations. As War Child grew it was able to undertake larger projects in many areas of conflict in the world. War Child works independently or in partnership with other agencies to provide practical and effective aid, concentrating on nutrition, rehabilitation and emergency relief.

An amazing anthology! 31 July 2003
By A Customer
Kids' Night In is one of the best children's books I have read for a long time. It really does has something for everyone with stories that are scary to tear-jerkers, funny to romance. It is also beautifully illustrated which enhances the book further.

The calibre of the contributors is brilliant and it is an excellent way of trying out new authors work and introducing children to someone they may not have ordinarily read. The information on War Child, the charity the book rasies money for, is easy to read and links well with some of the stories giving children an awareness of issues such as war but not in a horrific or heavy handed way.

Go and buy it, you will not be disappointed. It is the perfect book for children to take on holiday as they can just dip in and out of it!

I was so excited to find this book. There's not only a fantastic range of top authors, but the content of the stories differs dramatically from funny to feel-good to fantasy to more serious perspectives on war, so there's something in it for everyone. All the stories are beautifully illustrated, and best of all a proportion of your money goes to War Child, which helps children living in war zones. If you're not sure what to buy for a child, you couldn't want for a better present.
