Although I bought this book for a five year old would-be Liberace, I must confess to spending some quality time with both it and a free piano app myself first before surrendering it to her. Fair enough, it has obviously been written with 'kids' in mind, but that doesn't make it any less worthy as a teaching tool for those of us adult types who undoubtedly handle a keyboard like a torture device with which to assault the ears of any unfortunate listeners. Those of us who, if locked in a room with thirteen keyboards and a dozen monkeys, would probably see at least fifty per cent of those monkeys producing something vaguely resembling a tune long before we ourselves could.

No? Oh well, that must just be me then.

This book takes ANY reader and, with the help of bright colours and a most agreeable way of 'disguising' any intimidating musical speak, unlocks the basic mysteries of tuneful keyboard playing so expertly that they are barely even aware that they are learning.

A lot depends on the stickers that come with the book. Contrary to what one or two of my fellow reviewers have said, there IS a diagram to assist in the placing of these stickers (it's on page 2). Believe me, if I can put them on correctly, absolutely ANYONE can do it.

I myself bowed gracefully out of the music business shortly after having mastered 'Chopsticks', but my little relative has enjoyed even more success. I get a warm glow when I hear how she can be found, at all hours of the night and day, practicing the popular tunes this book contains and then giving recitals to anyone within earshot.

Was a present for our daughter at christmas, this book comes with colour coded stickers of the keys note. It is important that you start from the begining of the book and not jump to half way through. The book shows you the notes with the colour coded notes, before you know it even I could play basic tunes that anyone would know, great for beginners not just for kids I would great even for all ages.

Bought 3 for our grandchildren. I have played both piano and keyboard for a number of years now. This book is very colourful...and atractive with excercises. For the younger child aged 5 onwards...the stickers within the book to place upon a keyboard for note guidence, will require an adult, to read through the instructions - in order to place them upon the correct keys. A little one to one... may bring rewards for the younger child to tap out simple tunes...with the help of colour coded stickers, that will help a beginner adult even at first.

As when you progress through the book - it deals with auto accompliment - i.e (how to play along with your own backing band) with a suitably equipped K/B...but that will require cordination; as You'll need to practice with the right hand melody without auto accompliment -(Treble Clef) - in hitting the right notes and basically counting correctly the RH/Melody note values/timing )...then LH WITHOUT accompliment (practice going through cord/and finger spans).Afterwards practice/SLOWLY building up the tempo counting with the auto accompliment on with Left hand only. eventually depending upon practice, etc. slowly building up tempo- with both hands together. The book may provide a stepping stone...into a treasure chest of songs available in other music books. Hope this has been of help.

The super keen will be able to work through this as it is so clear. Be warned, carers of the less than super keen, you will still need to be there to guide and encourage. Loved the sticky notes to put on each key and very systematic. Hard to think of a simpler, clearer approach.

Bought for my friend, who is 26 but as I was buying him his first keyboard - thought this would be fun and simple for him as a beginner. He said it was brilliant and the stickers for the keys were extremley helpful. Highly recommended for adults and children alike!
