It's a fact: This is the coolest TV show on Earth! As far as I can remember when this show was broadcast in the UK over 10 years ago now, there was only about a dozen shows -in which season 1,2 & 3 were mixed together - to represent the show in general. Let me tell you,'Kids' fans out there, you need to buy all three box sets, (and the remaining two, when they are released- fingers crossed!) only then can you experience the wacky, wonderful and sometimes plain weird world of this Canadian troupe. Some old characters are welcomed back; we still have the head-crusher, Buddy Cole, Mississippi Gary and the Cops, but the sketches that will really make you laugh out loud are the one-offs.

I'll be honest, if you've never seen this show, you'll either find it comedy genius or it'll go way over your head. (But if nothing else, the theme music and intervening snippets between sketches are delectable enough!) The sketches themselves are brought together by the finest ensamble of comedy writers; each bringing their own diverse range of radical, smart, sassy, original, and most importantly, unpredictable brand of humour. If you enjoy certain off-the-wall comedy, you'll treasure this. The extras include performances from early live stage shows, and some audio commentary. The only disappointing factor for season 3 is there are no insightful interviews with the five stars, like you have with season 1 & 2. But overall, you definitly get your money's worth.

It's pure silliness in parts, but this only adds to the attraction. It's appeal seems universal, breaking all boundries that most other comedies sit within, and I'd recommend potential fans to get hold of this season as fast as any other, as they are all equally addictive and enchanting to watch: To deny yourself the pleasure, you'd have to be crazier than 'two clearly insane people, like Jerry Sizzler and her sister... Jerry Sizzler' 'Nuff said.

The Kids Hit Their Stride In Season 3! 15 Sep 2005
By SandmanVI - Published on Amazon.com

While some considered the 2nd season to be perhaps as funny but slightly less daring than the 1st, this time around everything seems to work perfectly. The concepts are as bold as ever, the insights at times are biting and cynical, the concepts are hilariously absurd yet often executed with nuance (a tough feat) and the boys just seem to have found the perfect chemistry. Their intelligent brand of oddball sketch comedy is now fully mastered coming off smoother than before while thankfully never losing the raw edge of the earlier work.

The 4-disc format of the package remains exactly the same as the first 2 seasons with the actor commentary, compilations of favorite sketches, rare never-seen performances from the Rivoli Theater and cast bios alongside all of the episodes. It's a very solid set of added material though not a total home run in terms of extras; however it's what we've come to expect for the series at this point and the consistency is fine.

Obviously this is a must for fans and I think you'll find this to be the most enjoyable of the 3 sets so far. For newcomers I think this is an easier place to dip into the weird world of KITH since the entire act is a bit more polished.

great comedy poor value 15 Oct 2002

The other reviews are absolutely correct; the Kids in the Hall are astounding. This video, however, contains only two episodes and as such, is of questionable value. If you are a diehard fan and feel you MUST own KIDH merchandise I can certainly recommend this video - otherwise, I discourage the purchase of this video.

they were in the zone 20 Feb 2007

I forgot how much good material they turned out...in particular, the 2nd season would have to rate as their best for me, so if you only buy one of their seasons, go with Season 2...By Seasons 4 & 5 they were getting more experimental and expanding the logic and length of their pieces, which is more toward's Bruce's writing (sausages, wigs, etc.)...less funny, but more cinematic in nature...Season 1 was basically sketches in front of a live studio audience, and not much planned in a television-show sort of mentality...I know these thoughts are somewhat random in order, but hey, that's how I watched the boxed set...
