4.0 out of 5 stars Everyday Bravery 28 Aug. 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition
This has been a whole summer of new things for my daughter. Most recently she attended Vacation Bible School. This was a big "first" for her. She was going to go to a class and Mommy was not going to stay. She was worried (and so was I) about being there on her own. She really wanted to go, but knowing that I wasn't going to be staying with her set her nervousness into overdrive. She really doesn't like to try new things, but after they aren't so "new" anymore, she always has fun! Just like Princess Ruby, my daughter has a fear of new things.

This book is a perfect example of "everyday bravery". Princess Ruby was on her way to Ballet Class when her carriage runs into trouble and she is unable to attend her favourite class. When she receives word that she is able to attend a make-up class she is thrilled but also very scared.

Summoning all her courage, Princess Ruby decides that she will attend class even though she is terrified. When she starts dancing all her fears begin to diminish and she finds her fears have gone. Princess Ruby learns that even though something is different it can be completely and utterly wonderful.

Princess RubyThis was such a great book to share with my daughter about trying new things. It tells a story of everyday bravery. You don't need to battle dragons or save baby kittens to be brave. You can be brave just overcoming those situations that scare you! All too often my daughter will miss out on things she wants to try because she is scared and this book helped to show her that new can be fantastic. It shows that being "Brave" in everyday situations can lead to a wonderful adventure.

This book was also a great reminder for me to provide some gentle encouragement when she is showing fear over new things.

5.0 out of 5 stars Princess Ruby at Ballet 25 July 2013

This is another beautiful children's book from Deborah Bradley and no doubt inspired by the Bradley family. The illustrations were wonderful but most of all the moral of the story is one which all children would benefit from, if they had the opportunity to learn this early in their lives. I think all girls and boys would love this book and highly recommend it. I also feel that this author has a long successful road ahead of her and wish her every success in her career and success in all future books as well. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Princess Ruby learns to be Brave 5 July 2013

I know this book's primary audience is little girls but there's a lesson weaved into the story of this book that will appeal to young and old. The illustrations are engaging and the story flows at a beautiful pace. Princess Ruby learns to be brave and do what she loves. I can't wait to read this to my little Princess. Your little Princess will love this too.
