The first series of Kidnap and Ransom was far too successful for it to be a one off and predictably Trevor Eve has returned to our screens as hostage negotiator Dominic King for this three part story. King was very obviously doing his own thing in the first series, but this time round, if anything, he seems to be even more of a maverick and a complete law unto himself.

Interesting beginning with King shown on a lake in a rowing boat shoving a sack covered parcel which looks suspiciously like a body, into the water, and then a reversal to `two weeks earlier'. It was clear at that point that this was a marker for what was coming later to add extra interest, though what this was all about remained a mystery until right at the end. Not that any extra interest was really needed as the story is engrossing and action packed.

This time the setting is Kashmir and starts with King going about his everyday business sorting out the release of a kidnapped family. However, things go wrong and the kidnappers hijack a bus. The daughter of a key politician is one of the passengers although this is not immediately known by any of the kidnappers or passengers including her one night stand who is with her. Clearly she is a key element in the story, but not wishing to spoil it I will not give any further developments away. Suffice to say this has sufficient twists and turns to keep the viewer highly engaged and the climax is very tense.

This is very good and compelling entertainment. The wait for the next episode on TV the following week felt far too long and I would not be at all surprised if many watch all three parts in one go once they get their hands on the DVD. Dominic King is an interesting character and clearly there is plenty of potential for further outings.

Everything Trevor Eve does is brilliant. And the second season is just good as the first.
If you like high octane drama, then this is for you. Just sit back and enjoy.

I watched the first kidnap and Ransom which I found was not too bad, so I thought I would give series 2 a go. But the story line in this one is so poor and the ending so weak, your left wondering, what was all that about? My advice: Don't waste your money on this one.

The second series is often a let down, but in this case it was easily as good as the first. Set in India, Kashmir, Dominic King (Eve) makes a pay off to recover hostages. Read more
