I have read quite a few books on job hunting and this is the worst of the bunch. It is a depressing read and not one I would recommend to anyone currently trying for a job. Having read this book I wasn`t filled with enthusiasm for jobhunting instead I felt the task was almost impossible. The book is targeted at high flyers so if you haven`t got an MBA with years of top management experience just give this book a miss.

The 2 books I have found most useful are Pitch Yourself - Faust
and Don`t Send a CV - Fox.

If you have been having trouble getting a job then these might just make the difference and get you an interview.

Hope this is useful to anyone currently trying to get a job

This is an easy to read volume packed with excellent advice for anyone facing a job-change situation, although it is particularly geared to those in the graduate or executive job markets. As manager of the career management centre for a leading business school, I recommended this text to MBA students as it contains the type of information they would receive from a one-to-one careers advice appointments and workshops. Jeff Grout really knows what he is talking about and I think that his advice is all the more valuable because it comes from the perspective of the all-powerful recruitment consultant!

I would particularly recommend this book to any mid-career executive who is looking to make a career change and who does not have access to a careers adviser.
