'The Kick Inside' was Kate Bush's fabulous debut album. She was at her very best when she started out her career. I enjoyed her earlier material immensely, and did not like the direction she later took. Her songs and videos became too extreme and overlong I thought. (the album 'Hounds Of Love' is a good example of what I mean - full of overlong tracks and more than one version of the same songs) This album kicks off with a great opening track with 'Moving' and also includes two hit singles; one of which is her best remembered - the classic 'Wuthering Heights' which went to number one for four weeks at the beginning of 1978. At this time, Kate Bush was also at her most entertaining when seen appearing on TV shows - she was 'arty' and unique, and there had been nothing quite like her before. This album still sounds great thirty years on.
