5.0 out of 5 stars Keysonic keyboard, 12 Feb 2009
By Rooster (London, England) - See all my reviews
No problems with this unit at all. Works from so far away you can't actually see what's on the 106cm screen so what more do you want?

Seems a bit flexible, but robust enough. Tracker ball is precise and easy, though you use it with your right hand's thumb and operate the mouse buttons with your left hand. My colleague was impressed with the keyboard but won't be buying one as his wife lacks a left arm! You might find it difficult if you are short of any limbs or digits too.

I don't need the function buttons down the side as I'm using it on a Media PC, but there is no way to turn them off unless you load the software I think. Bit of a pain if you touch one and something pops up you don't want! Apart from that, no software or drivers needed for Vista.

The dongle for the PC is a little long, but I guess you could put it on an extension USB cable to allow your Media PC to get closer to the wall. It stores in the keyboard's battery compartment when not in use, but I don't see when it would be not in use!

First set of batteries didn't last very long, but that was because some idiot (ahem!) put one of them in the wrong way round! Worked fine on the equivalent of only two AA batteries though! Now it has four new ones all correctly inserted. No problems at all with it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Dead, 26 May 2009

I purchased one of these and although when i first got it i thought it was amazing it then suddenly seemed to die (althogh i believe there was somthing my girlfriend was not telling when i returned from football to see it lifeless), maybe its low cost contruction means things break inside, i would say but it but treat it like a baby and look after it or it will just break.

Cool shortcuts and very light so a good 5/10

5.0 out of 5 stars Great keyboard, works flawlessly with my Linux Media Centre, 19 Mar 2009
By Mr. N. P. Coleman (London, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have been looking for a wireless keyboard that's relatively cheap but still able to do the things I want. I've built a MythDora media centre for my parents and due to the limits of a remote we all wanted a wireless keyboard to be able to type. Tha great thing about this one is not only its price but also it is cross-platform friendly. If you're not bothered about media buttons then all you need to do is plug it in and off you go. No drivers needed as it's just recognised as a keyboard (which helps on Linux!).

The keyboard itself has excellent laptop-style keys which are soft to touch and relatively quiet. The inbuilt trackball is a great addition as it means I can navigate the PC itself with ease. You operate the trackball with your right thumb and the left and right mouse buttons with your left thumb (cresent and circular buttons respectively). One thing I have to mention about the left mouse button is it makes a solid "click" sound but doesn't always register. You have to find the right part of the cresent button which actually registers. Just a small gripe. On the right appears to be a remote-like section of the keyboard. This isn't removable but is a great area for quick functions e.g. directional buttons, ok, back and number keys. Most of these work in Linux as they must be mapped to their counterparts in the rest of the keyboard.

I am very pleased with this item as it helps my parents and I operate our PC from the comfort of our armchairs at low cost in comparison. Many thanks to the distributor who delivered it next day with just standard delivery!
