In "Key notes on Plastic Surgery" Adrian Richards has produced a comprehensive, clear and concise revision guide for plastic surgeons of all levels.
In his introduction he tells us that his motivation for writing the book was his inability to find a suitably sized general plastics textbook aimed at those revising for the FRCS (Plast). This publication is easily equal to the task. However there is also plenty for plastic surgeons of any level to gain from the book.
It takes the form of short revision notes covering all aspects of the field, from common trauma to elective surgery, burns, reconstructive surgery and aesthetic procedures. The topics are thouroughly covered and the notes set out in such a way that the reader is provided with a sound basic foundation on which to hang his knowledge.
The language is clear and notes well thought out and obviously well researched. The page layout is not too crowded and easy to absorb.
My only criticism would be the relative lack of illustrations, but this book acts as an excellent basic text and any further information can easily be found in many other publications.
In summary an excellent all-round text essential for HSTs in plastic surgery, with plenty of appeal for more junior surgeons as well.
