First of all I'd like to say that the previous reviewer Michael Forster gave an excellent review on 2nd Aug-2011 and it is mainly because of his review that I bought the same machine. I am in agreement with everything he says.
This is a seriously heavy object- ( the package weighs close on 60kg when it arrives) so you do need to think about the material handling aspects, especially if you are going to take it upstairs. Once unpacked, the "main" part (- flywheel etc)- can be lifted by one person..... but only just......
I, also took the best part of 3 hours to unpack and assemble this trainer. All the tools necessary are supplied but I did end up using my own magnetised screwdriver for some of the fiddly screws. If you look at the photo you will see that all the "mobile" parts of the trainer have black plastic covers. Presumably this is a "Health and Safety" feature to stop little fingers from getting jammed, but assembling these requires quite a bit of patience. I am quite used to tinkering about with motorcycles, etc but I still found the assembly "moderately difficult".
It came beautifully packed, and all the items are labelled "left " or "right" to aid with assembly. It was so cleverly packed in fact, that I thought two large plastic components were missing- and it was only on my third search through the polystyrene that I found them secreted away in a small compartment. So don't be too quick to throw the packing away.
I am delighted with this trainer, I haven't yet completely learned how to use the computer but I am quite sure I'll get the hang of it in good time.
Top tip - Follow the instructions exactly- (especially section 4.2 ) - or you might have to backtrack to get it right.
