Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Big tunes for big shorts--that's the basic theme of both volumes of Kerrang! The Album. Like Volume 1, Volume 2 is packed with more contemporary rock and metal anthems for the kids, and drawn from some of the scene's biggest names in 2001. And this compilation really seems to have the scene sussed: from the comic-book Goth of Marilyn Manson ("Disposable Teens") to the roadhouse rowdiness of Buckcherry ("Lit Up"), and from the geek rock of Weezer ("Hash Pipe") to the fratboy shoutiness of Limp Bizkit ("Rollin'"). The volume ranges from loud (Wheatus' "A Little Respect") to louder (Muse's "Plug In Baby") to loudest (Slipknot's "Wait and Bleed"), with neither time nor space for soppy ballads. The two CDs on Kerrang! The Album 2 should keep any angry young man or woman happily bouncing around the room for hours. --Ted Kord

to the heavier things in life. I will agree with most comments it contains quite a bit of commercial music i.e. slipknot, linkin park, limp bizkit, papa roach etc. Okay it may not be the heaviest music around but people of today this is how I have discovered some of the better albums in my CD rack. I'll be honest there was a one or two year period when I could not stop listening to nu-metal etc. Yet as it wore off I discovered different bands Rammstein, Killswitch Engage, Kittie, Sepultura, Soulfly etc. So people I ask you to stop slagging off young people for listening to this because one day they will discover harder music. So this introduction will lead the young people forward.

As some other people have said before, this CD really does reflect what Kerrang! TV is. All styles of Rock, not just Hard, and Metal rock, but all styles, including Progressive, and Alternative. With band combinations like 3 Doors Down, just 5 tracks after Slipknot, it shows the true variation of Kerrang! TV and Kerrang! 2.
Some people will criticise this for having "Too poppy tracks" but in my opinion, they still are classed as Rock, in some form or another.
This CD suits everyone who loves listening to rock, from the hardcore moshers, to the chilling listener, it has it all.

It does however need some changes being done to it. Tracks like Fear Factory - Cars, don't really belong on a CD of modern age rock. But that's just my opinion shining through again. Even with that bad point, this album is still an essential part of an rocker's CD collection, as is Kerrang! 1. It's worth every penny of it!

I listen to a lot of metal buying in the region of 4 to 5 albums a week. I do find albums like this useful in that I decide if I like the tracks and if I do then I buy the album they are from. In this case I think this is an excellent compilation although not all of it can be lassed as metal, certainly punk/rock styles are included. I did alreday possess a number of the tracks but it was worth purchasing for the tracks I had not heard. If you are unfamiliar, or do not own any of the music on this album, then buy it, you will not be disappointed. The price of a compilation like this makes it worth purchasing.
