    I bought one of these and found it to be amasing.

    More than enough power, looks and feels like a solid build.
    I've used it for a few tasks now including making hot water pastry in the attachment. It laboured a little at the lowest setting but once set to a mid-range power setting it handled it quite effortlessly.
    None of the usual sounds of labouring in the gears at all.

    One down side, being a cast body rather than the usual plastic, it is a bit on the heavy side.

    As for the power, thankfully it can be turned down, I found that on high speed it was a little too fast and unless the blender tip is totally submerged there was considerable splatter.

    I bought this as people emphasised in the reviews how it felt sturdy / was metal etc. There is metal, including the kenwood logo, but there is plenty of plastic, so don't buy this thinking you are getting an all metal appliance. Worryingly, as this was what broke on my old blender (but it was not a Kenwood), the part that fits into the attachments is one of the plastic bits, and looks rather like the other one did and I had hoped for the important parts that metal would have been used as this appliance was not cheap. I do realise plastic is pretty good these days but I still prefer metal for gears and connecting bits that are going to be subjected to high stresses and it seems a shame the bits of this that do hardest work are made of cheap plastic rather than stainless steel and I would have preferred to have a plastic Kenwood logo in exchange for a metal mechanism.

    The instructions which you will not read till you buy it tell you it must be used only for approx 50 seconds in any 4 minute period (!) so you had better move that blender quickly about the saucepan guys and gals or you will spend a lot of time waiting for your next time slot.

    I have now had a good amount of use out of it - re the vaious attachments:
    FROTHER: The frother is too powerful on the lowest setting to stop the milk flying/spraying out at the edges, so you have to use it in little bursts, which once you get the hang of is OK and the results are good and of course the batter will ver run out as mains.
    WHISK: powerful and easy to clean. Managed to get egg white half stiff in the first 50 second burst, then the second burst after the 4 min rest completed the task of getting it to peaks stage.
    CUTTER BLADE AND CHOPPING BOWL: handled fresh cobnuts effortlessly and gave good ground nuts with only a few missed pieces of nut.
    BLENDER: used for milk shake gave good fast mixing of the chocolate mix and milk. used for making a roux/sauce handled this very well.

    Conclusion: I did not manage to complete all tasks within the 50 seconds mainly due to it being new to me so not moving it around the pan quick enough etc but remembered to stop after the 50 seconds and leave about 4 minutes break while I did something else, but as I do not want mine up in smoke like the other person reported, will continue to do this. This handled everything I asked of it, and seems sturdy and capable. It is miles better than the one it replaced and as it is so powerful it simply a question of learning to move it about the bowl or pan and it will manage to do all or most within 50 seconds.

    Looks the part, feels substantial but can't handle blending anything other than air!!! We unpacked it and went about using it for the first time... started off blending some almonds and then proceeded to make a light cake mix and it started smoking!

    After unplugging it and setting aside for a little while I went to pick it up to move it and the housing was piping hot - the motor had completely burnt out inside. Thank goodness for the alloy casing otherwise the whole thing would have probably burst into flames!

    To say the least it was a little disappointing. I could understand if it was being used improperly but it was being used as it is designed to do...

    Such a shame as it's a lovely little kit. It looks lovely (as far as hand blenders go) and is actually pretty well put together - it just seems like it could have done with a more potent motor.
