I purchased this kettle for my elderly father. Not from AMAZON. A popular retail store just over twelve months
ago. He chose this model because its KENWOOD and the flip up lid feature making filling easier. Unfortunately the flip up lid has failed, because the small spring that causes the lid to flip open has broken in two. He will not use the kettle.I have contacted the Kenwood support team for a spare replacement lid spring(which i could easily fit, I am an electrician)they say "unable to find the item you require, part not avialable" This is not a cheap kettle.
KENWOOD state the typical life of kettles is FIVE YEARS. This one died at a very young age. I was surprised that the KENWOOD support team could not help with the replacement part. I would not recommend this kettle,or KENWOOD.

This kettle was supplied by Kenwood in replacement for a plastic jug-kettle which failed to last long enough to reach the end of its guarantee period. I chose it from their range because of its appearance and features, but after a period of use which would in isolation also not have met the 12 month measly guarantee, it has failed to meet even minimal reliability expectations. The first thing was evidence of water seepage around the water level indicator seals and the base, and then the lid spring broke, making filling very awkward. Now, the seepage has become a leak. The kettle is still marginally usable, if needing a frequent mop-up and with inconvenient filling. Not really even worth 1 star, and I shall not be buying anything from Kenwood again.

I bought this kettle as liked the look of it and have had Kenwood products before with no problem. Within 6 months the lid has broken (not with any heavy handed use). I do not hold out much hope for a replacement given the other reviews. The other downside is the boil time. It boils quickly but then takes a good 15 to 20 secs to switch off which means the kitchen ends up looking like a steam room. Not that environmentally friendly. Will be looking to replace with another Philips cordless kettle which I had before and lasted about 10 years. Very disappointed.

Good looking, well made stainless steel kettle. Does just what you expect.
