Well what can I say about this PMR radio, it might be easier to say what is wrong with it (very little) as opposed to the good bits as there are far too many for this review. What is this item then? This is what must be the best (or one of them) PMR 446 hand portable radio on the market, it is made from Die-cast Aluminium and has just five external controls. It is simple to operate and the sound quality (even at the end of it's rage) is a good as any radio I have ever tested. Speech is clear and clean with good tonal range, the newer version of this radio the TK 3201 T2 comes complete with high capacity Li-ion battery and the drop in charger is simplicity itself. In fact having used this radio in anger for some weeks now I only have one criticism of it and that is the weight. This is no lightweight radio, however it still manages to sit in your hand without too much problem, clip it to your belt though and you will notice the tug. Anyway, range is about as good as you will get from these low power PMR radios, and the ones I have tried seem to work well over a mile or so (in a built up area). I have tried a distance test and managed six miles when using it `line of sight' but the signal was very weak and did cut out from time to time. The only other gripe was that we did get a few problems getting this radio to talk with other (none Kenwood) Cheep PMR radios, It seems that the cheper end of the PMR radio market sets can't get to grips with the sub tones used by the Kenwood. If you want a radio to work with others you have then all I can say is check for compatability before you buy. Matching with other Kenwoods and other top brand radios seems to be fine on the TK 3201.
Anyway, if you are looking for the best PMR radio money can buy then don't look any further the TK 3201 is it
