This polished stainless steel jug kettle has a brushed metal body with black accents. A large easy-to-grip handle, large dual water windows, a wide-angled spout for easy filling and pouring, a removable washable limescale filter and a polished concealed element to prevent limescale build-up make this kettle both functional and a style statement in your kitchen.

Based on its current Amazon price of £18.99 I think this is the best buy for a kettle on Amazon currently. We bought one.
Our criteria for choosing a kettle was no different to anyone elses:
a) 3 Kilowatt power
b) 1.7 litre capacity
c) Brushed steel jug style
d) Sub £20.
The kettle has just one window, ideal for right-handers but probably not so for left handed people who might prefer a kettle with a window on each side. The window is large and allows you to see not just the level of the water, but also to see the water actually bubbling and boiling.
There is no light inside the kettle like on some models, but just one on the switch which lights up when on.
You can fill the kettle through the spout, so no need to keep lifting the lid.
It's brushed steel finish is smart and clean. I prefer brushed steel to shiny stainless steel which I find marks too easily.
In summary, it's only a kettle, but its a good one, it's cheap and it's smart. Recommended.

I bought this Kettle in Feb 2009 directly from Amazon for £24.99. It was to replace a silver plastic kettle that had come to the end of it's life. I wanted a Kettle with a brushed metal effect, a decent spout as the plastic one did not pour the water well and for no more than £25. First thing I noticed was that the Kenwood is not too noisy at all and it does not have a bulky shape. The handle is sturdy. The boiling time for the full 1.7 litres does not seems excessively long. The hinged lid opens up nicely to fill it up. It has a large, easy to get to limescale filter and a single "window". The "on" switch lights up and nothing else. We have been using it daily for over 6 months with no leaks and no other problems. Oh..... and it pours so much better than our old kettle as in, into the mug and not all over the kitchen top!! Therefore 5 Stars.

I purchased this kettle via Duronic.
It worked well at first but after a short time kept cutting out during the boil process and had to hold the switch down.
This happens every so often.
Also leaks slightly and limescale is developing around the joins between plastic and stainless steel.
I complained to Duronic but as I had discarded the packaging their only response was for me to take it to my nearest Kenwood specialist for repair.
My advice - do not purchase this item.
