I bought this kettle because mine died after 4 yrs service but I had a year's supply of 'old style' filters still to use (not Maxtra). This piece of Kenwood equipment is , as you'd expect from this brand, both elegant, in a classic, timeless sense (the handle is transparent, not white as it seems in this photo)and extremely sturdy. What it is not, is ergonomic. It weighs a ton. My previous Brita kettle was 'trendier' (that's not necessarily a complimentary adjective)the plastic began to look shabby quite quickly (whereas I think this Kenwood one will look good and maybe still work in ten years time)but it's capcity for holding and boiling water was greater and it was lighter. It's inconvenient that the Kenwood holds less - but if it held any more it would be impossible for me to lift with one arm. Basically this is a kettle for design purists with muscles. Be aware it uses a filter system which will probably be extinct within the lifespan of the kettle, so expect a really good discount.
