Product Description
The Kenwood Prospero Compact KM265 is a domestic kitchen machine for family use. It is fully interlocked for safety and ideal for simple food preparation.
The KM265 has a powerful 650 W motor driving three outlets. There are two outlets situated at the top of the machine, one high and one medium speed, for running the liquidiser, food processor and citrus juicer attachments included with the machine.
The bowl outlet uses the famous Kenwood planetary mixing action, which makes sure that all the mixture is picked up from the bowl. Prospero comes complete with three K-Lene-coated bowl tools (K Beater, whisk and dough hook) and three plates for thick slicing/shredding, thin slicing/shredding and rasping.
There are also two separate attachments available for the Prospero: a centrifugal juicer attachment, for use on the high speed outlet, and a mincer attachment, which can be fixed to the bowl outlet when the head of the machine is lifted up.
The Kenwood Prospero Compact is finished in a plastic body with a brushed metal front grill and comes with 4.3 Litre brushed stainless steel bowl. The simple pop-up head lift and angled tool action allows for quick and easy tool change and bowl removal. The KM265 boasts variable speed control and the included splashguard makes adding ingredients to the bowl, while mixing, easy and mess free.

When I moved house 2-3 years ago I "lost" quite a lot of worktop and storage space in the new kitchen and so when I was looking round for a food mixer the size of this one did catch my eye. While it's not that much smaller than kenwoods I've used in catering kitchens I've found mine to be just as robust. The small size meant I could keep it in a cupboard easily however I've found it to be good enough to become a fixture on the worktop.
One reviewer marked this mixer down as they felt the bowl would dent easily, well I can say that my tiled floor hasn't done that and it has been bounced on a few occasions. The bowl is big enough to make dough for a couple of loaves and the dough hook does a good job although I do always give it a knead myself just at the end out of habit. K beater does a good job of sponges and batters while the whisk will get eggwhites peaking nicely.
The chopper and blender both sit on securely and for ease of cleaning they are both superb. One issue with attatchments like those can be wear on spindles where they connect to the machine but after a couple of years mine is showing no signs of wear.
If you feel that you need a mixer coloured nosebleed red or barbie pink then I have to say look elsewhere. If however you want a mixer that, in my opinion, carries the kenwood name well and does what you need it to then this is well worth looking at.

I bought this earlier this year, and have waited until it had been in use for a while to write a review. I have now used all but the juicer attachments for a variety of recipes and found the mixer able to deal with everything I've asked it do do.
I've made bread, muffins a variety of cakes and pastry all successfully. I've used the blender to make soup and the processor to make breadcrumbs and crumble mixes.
All the parts are dishwasher safe, and come apart for cleaning which is a real bonus for the blender. The body of the mixer is easy to clean and just needs a quick wipe at the end of use.
One thing I do like is the very positive locking mechanism - you get a very definite click when the blender/processor are locked in place. This makes it very safe and the possibility of accidents remote.
The mixer is compact enough to sit on the corner of the work surface all the time, and the blender and processor take up a little shelf space in a cupboard so they are handy. The other attachments fit in a drawer apart form the balloon whisk which again needs to go in a cupboard.I cook mainly evenings and weekends so need something I can just go to and use rather than hastling in and out of a cupboard.
The only downside I have is that the mixer doesn't come with a cover - it's a shame, but I aim to run one up myself to match my kitchen.
If, like me the Chef is too big/out of your price range, and you want a good quality mixer that will last then I'd certainly give this one a look over.

I had a very old Kenwood, I was unable to purchase a citrus extractor for my model, the Liquidiser attachment had long died, so decided to upgrade to the Prospero.
I am very pleased indeed with this product, the splatter guard is a bonus, the attachments are easy to attach, very good instructions.
