    Amazon Verified Purchase
September 2009. I bought this to replace an older Kenwood of a similar size and I like the fact that there is a separate blender attachment for the same base, which I didn't have before. It is quite noisy to use - more of a high pitched scream than the old one and during the half dozen times I have used it, it emits a slightly strange smell, which I hope is just the motor settling in (and not it about to burn out!!!). The blades and attachments are easily slotted in and are easy to wash up. For the price, it seems to do a good job.

    Update 9 months later:
The motor died during some unchallenging pastry making. If you want a machine that lasts longer than a few months, look elsewhere!

brill piece of kit! 11 Jan 2008
I wanted a processor that was small enough to leave out so that it would get plenty of use but big enough that doing soup wouldnt be a complete nightmare!
This fits the bill. I use it just about every day to chop veg up... the up side is i use more veg in cooking, whihch has to be a good thing.! It also doesnt take up much space in the kitchen!
Its also made a few lovely soups as well.
Easy to take apart/ put together and use as well.
    Definately recommended!!
The booklet only has a few recipes but is designed to tell you more whats possible with it. A little downside!

    Jug disaster 9 Nov 2009
Having read the various reviews on Amazon, I have to agree with the negative comments, having just spent 30 minutes cleaning the kitchen after a 'jug disaster'. After blending #a very lovely# soup, the simple twist to free the jug from the motor unit also managed to untwist the blade part from the jug. Result: soup everywhere! Kenwood's reply to someone reporting the same problem was that the base should be held at the same time as untwisting the jug, but the very good #yes, I said good#feet keep the unit firmly attached to the work surface. Even so, I did hold the bottom of the unit whilst untwisting the jug and still ended up with the same result.

Another comment noted by another reviewer is about the burning smell. I have only used the processor 4 #FOUR!!!!# times, each time with the jug, and have also noticed this burning smell, as if the motor is about to pack up on me. Perhaps I'm lucky the jug disaster struck before the smoke thing mentioned in one of the reviews.

I'll be calling Kenwood tomorrow. Wonder what their response will be this time. My advice to you: If you don't yet possess an FP220, don't bother!

Can I Give It No Stars?
On first test, empty, there was a strong electrical motor burnout smell, but I figured this was just the 'newness' wearing off.

Sadly, this is not the case. Read more

    Smoking
Not impressed. Strong burning smell - clouds of smoke - bits of what I can only surmise were burnt insulation from the motor windings falling out of the bottom. Absolute rubbish. Read more
