    Brilliant! 19 April 2010
By Mellow Yellow TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
This is great value as it includes the Kenlyte mixing bowl which costs £19.99 on its own. This mixing bowl can be used for all Kenwood Chef tasks and is great to have as a spare. You also get the ice cream maker itself which goes in the freezer. It is full of the gel you get in ice blocks so it freezes very quickly, but I leave mine in the freezer all the time and as it is hollow I normally store a bag of peas etc inside so I do not waste the storage space in my freezer. In the box you also get the paddle which is made of plastic but is pretty tough, finally you get the splash guard with a pouring hole.

I use a very basic mix of ready made custard and I add my flavours to it, be it pistachio, chocolate etc. This isnt as nice as proper ice cream made with actual cream, but as I am on a diet I have to be careful!! It is also very tasty and is extremely cheap to make. I have also made sorbet and granitas which is a slushy ice dessert which is very refreshing. If you have the machine switched on before you add the ingredients and then pour the mixture in slowly then you will have no problems at all with this attachment.

Amazon sell a book which called "500 ice creams and sorbets By Alex Barker". this book has helped me get 110% out of my ice cream maker. In fact I have bought a second ice cream maker so I always have a bowl frozen!

    Too easy! 22 Jan 2011
This thing could be hazardous to a trim figure - but since I haven't had one of those for some years, it matters not!

I found it a breeze to use - as long as you remember to make sure the machine is turned on before you try to add anything. The first batch worked well, but it did work better the second time when I chilled all of the ingredients first (well, who reads instructions before the first go?). I agree with other reviewers that it's probably better to leave the bowl in the freezer all of the time - but then that does make it terribly easy to keep on making the stuff.

I did read a very handy tip that advises that you whisk the ingredients for a short while (rather than just stirring them together) before adding them to the machine as it seems to add a little air and improves the finished texture.

    Kenwood Ice Cream attachment
Very messy and not easty to use. I bought another ice cream maker - the Cuisinart and it's fabulous and easy and not as messy as the Kenwood.
