I have owned the KM003 for a number of years and have not regretted the purchase.

The basic unit looks very attractive left out on the work surface where it is always ready to be used. It has a brushed stainless steel body and polished stainless steel bowl. I have put the bowl in the dishwasher from time to time but I usually choose to wash it by hand to avoid the potential for scratches. The base unit itself is easily cleaned with a damp cloth followed by a brief polish with kitchen paper.

The unit comes with three attachments to use with the bowl; a K-Beater (for cakes), a whisk and a dough hook. Results are consistent and good.

I suppose the best thing about the Kenwood Chef is that, once you have the basic unit, there just seem to be a never-ending supply of things you can attach to perform myriad kitchen duties. The juicer attachment is one of my most used (for freshly squeezed orange juice in a trice), along with the food processer (with chopping blade and three graters). I also have the liquidiser attachment (for soups, smoothies etc). These all fit onto the top of the unit where they are very easy to use.

I did try out a potato peeling attachment, which was basically a bowl with what I can only describe as a sandpaper lining. The potatoes were moved against the lining of the bowl and the skins were removed. Whilst I appreciate you do not want to peel the life out of a potato, I found the results were very disappointing and stopped using it - but this is the only attachment that I have found lacking.

I chose the limited edition Kenwood Chef as I preferred the brushed stainless steel finish to the dull grey alternative and it came with the food processing and liquidiser attachments in the box (but that might have been a limited offer, so it would be worth checking before purchase).
