Product Description

The Kenwood JE290 Citrus Press Juicer in White makes squeezing citrus juice quick and easy. Citrus juices are packed full of vitamins which are quickly lost if they're stored, so freshly squeezed drinks have more vitamins intact. The Citrus press will juice oranges, lemons, limes and grapefruits, the cone or reamer rotates which presses the juice from the citrus half catching the pips in the sieve and the juice in the bowl beneath.

This works perfectly well. It's not particularly fast and I imagine that it would be as quick to squeeze it manually except that my old manual squeezer would not have held the quantity from 3 large oranges. But the price reflects that. The strainer separates all the segments, pips & pith which my manual didn't so that saves time; the strainer needs emptying after about 3 (large) oranges because it strips the inside of the orange completely. I like the size of the jug which holds 1000ml. I've only had it 2 days so I can't comment on its' longevity but I really like the idea that its encouraging me to drink fresh orange juice all day.

I bought this juicer because I read reviews for other juicers that didn't suit large citrus fruit. The reviews for this, on the other hand, seemed to be great, so I went for it. I'm definitely not disappointed. It does what it says on the tin, it's small, and very easy to use. Press the orange and it rotates one way. Press it next time and it rotates the other. Move the orange a little from side to side as you use it and hey presto - you have an orange half that has been squeezed to within an inch of its life! The nice big jug means you can do fresh orange juice for a family. Fab little gadget.

I ordered the juicer and was very impressed with it, so much so that i ordered one for my mum. She now has a juiced orange every day as it is so easy to use and like me she would never bother eating an orange as a whole fruit so it is great for health reasons too. Mrs J Buckley

Ive been making my own orange juice for a long time and this is the fourth juicer of this type I've owned, the previous three costing around £13. This Kenwood is a bit more expensive but it certainly looks and feels of higher quality. It is a robust powerful squeezer which performs very well. It strips out the Orange leaving nothing behind with any pith and large pieces being caught in the strainer which still lets the smaller bits through. If you have grand kids like me whose refrain is 'I don't like juice with bits in' then you need to pass it through a sieve for them. I am confident though that with the proper training they will some day take their place in society drinking juice with bits in just like normal people.

The two things I like best about the Kenwood is that it comes minus the silly reversing mechanism that my other juicers have had which activated automatically when the mechanism was under pressure. This is the function that failed in all the previous models necessitating replacement. The Kenwood reverses when you release the pressure which allows you to use more force on the Orange because it doesn't continually spin the other way if you press too hard. The other is that the juice is caught in a jug. The broken one I've just thrown out had a spout at the side and you had to place a glass under it for filling. Sometimes the juicer would move during use, leaving the glass behind and the juice would run over the worktop. The jug in the Kenwood is a far superior less messy and less wasteful system.

Buying oranges for eating is hit and miss, mostly miss in my opinion, but 99% of oranges will make very drinkable juice which beats hands down anything you can get from a supermarket. So if you want a delicious healthy, natural source of fibre buy this and have a couple of freshly squeezed oranges every morning. I promise you after a few days you'll feel the benefit.

I use this every morning on a large orange or grapefruit. The resulting juice is of excellent quality but the gadget needs some time to disassemble and wash clean. Main problem is downward pressure which has to be maintained while operating. But good for the price.

The juicer jams and stopped working on the second use. Seller taking no responsibility and says contact kenwood - the things still in 14/28 day faulty period which seller is responsible for ! Useless seller - wouldn't buy anything from this one again.

Brought this to replace a citrus press which broke after years of solid service. This juicer does nothing fancy and you could do the job with cheap plastic juicer, I tend to do quite a bit of fruit at a time though so this works for me and the machine itself seems well made and is easy enough to clean. If it was less than £20 I'd have given it 5 stars!
