Manufacturer's Description

We all know it's important to keep ourselves properly hydrated in order to feel at our best, physically and mentally. Kenwood's range of water filters offer purer, delicious drinking water at a fraction of the cost of bottled water.

Tap water undergoes a variety of processes to ensure that it's delivered to you in a clean and safe condition. The problem is that chlorine, the chemical used to disinfect the water, can impart a strong taste and odour. In hard water areas, the presence of calcium and magnesium can cause limescale to form on household appliances. Tap water may also contain pesticide residues and heavy metals which may adversely affect health after prolonged exposure.

The answer is Kenwood water filter jugs and cartridges. Kenwood filtration products reduce levels of aluminium, chlorine, copper, lead, nitrates, pesticides, zinc and temporary hardness, restoring the natural, crisp, clean taste of your drinking water. The benefits couldn't be clearer:

  • removal of unwanted taints and odours
  • reduced build-up of limescale in electrical appliances, helping to prolong their life and make them more energy efficient
  • can improve the taste and appearance of hot drinks and cooked vegetables
  • offers significant savings over bottled water
  • no heavy bottles to carry
  • more environmentally friendly than producing, transporting and disposing of water bottles
  • selected models feature a cartridge life indicator to remind you when your cartridge needs changing

    Shoddy construction 4 April 2005
I'm sure it filters water fine but on the one I was sent the round opening on the top only half closes no matter what you do. Also it pours very very slowly and water leaks out the unfiltered compartment when you pour it due to the hole in the top.

does the job fine 1 Oct 2009
Fairly average filter jug, does the job, i don't see how any other filter jugs are any better.
i like having the cover over the spout, that flips up as you pour, though ours fell off after a while, so it was just like all the other ones without a cover.(that may be our fault, may be theirs).
It doesn't hold loads, but it's enough for us, and it keeps it smaller and lighter to carry than some of the bigger ones.

I like the indicator part of the jug, its good that its not battery operated, i don't see the point in wasting electrics on filter jugs when a decent memory or note when the filter was put in can do the job, or even better this jug does manually with every turn of the handle where you put the water in.

It's a nice colour, and does the job fine.
Maybe other jugs would filter quicker, as new described by manufacturers as faster filters have come out, but i don't know. i do know the other filters are much more expensive, can usually get a years supply (12) of kenwood cartridges for around £10-15 or so, which is the cost of about 4 filters of the other ones?

It fits a range of filters which is good, from kenwood to the old brita style, to supermarket type ones.
i don't trust brita after seeing they put silver nitrate in their filters, which doesn't seem a good idea to me. i haven't checked for a little while to see if they still do that, but there was a warning on one brita jug i had about it. (that jug didn't last long for some reason)

As with any product if there is a manufacturing fault, anyone can send it back, and get a new one, but we didn't have any fault.

I haven't put five stars as the spout bit fell off, but other spout covers do the same, and many people buy filter jugs without them anyway, and it worked fine without it.

all in all, an above average good filter jug that fits in the fridge. i haven't found any better yet, and i've been through a few by dropping them accidentally etc and them cracking.

    Don't buy it 10 Mar 2006
    Very disappointing!
    1) Due to the poor desing, broke the first day I bought it.
    2) Water takes ages to come out as there's no inlet hole for the air.
    3) It's capacity is very low, meaning that you need to re-fill it many times per day.

Would have given it no stars at all.
