I had a slow cooker similar to this one for many years but unfortunately it gave up the ghost. I tried a crockpot slow cooker but it just gave me burnt offerings even on the low setting so I sent it back for a refund. Then I spotted this little beauty which is ideal for up to a family of four with big appetites (six if smaller portions). It's advertised as a curry slow cooker but I use it for everything from stews to soup. It is basic but sturdy and best of all it doesn't burn. I left it on high by mistake for an hour with a beef stew on board and still it didn't burn....brilliant. This slow cooker is tall and because of this you can cook smaller amounts. Wider slow cookers allow the food to spread out and would be more inclined to burn unless using larger quantities. It only has three settings, low, high or keep warm so no fancy gimmicks. I'm not easy to please and like to buy quality goods and although this little beauty is not the best quality product, it is sturdy and hasn't disappointed. Would I buy this product again...most definitely!! Only downside to this purchase was the £10 p&p cost.

Update: This was good but now that I have purchased another slow cooker I can confirm that this one was much faster and I although it cooked well, I couldn't leave it for a whole day in case I came home to burnt offerings.

Well I was so pleased with my slow cooker from Kenwood - well I bought another one so I now have two. Even better is they have purple crock pot. I like them so much I have two on the go sometimes i.e. one with beef stew in it and rice pudding in the other. Economical to run - simple and totally brilliant. I'd recomend getting a cook book for slow cookers cos you can really make the most of it then.

I ordered this product as a Christmas present to me from my parents, and I'm very glad I did! As I love curries and live on my own, I decided the size and design was perfect for me (larger pots aren't as good for cooking smaller quanities).
I have actually only cooked one curry in it so far though, as I have been trying out various other recipes, including bolognese, rice pudding and stock and all have been delicious. It comes with a Patak's recipe book which I haven't used as it is mainly cooking with jars of ready made sauces, and I prefer cooking with fresh ingredients. There is also a handy instruction manual including a few regular recipes which I have tried and these are good. So don't be put off by the name, treat yourself to a couple of general slow cooker recipe books and experiment.
This doesn't have a timer facility like some of the more expensive models, but I knew that before I purchased so will not deduct any stars, and it isn't as sturdy as some of the bigger models, but you get what you pay for, and this is good value for money.
I love the fact that this looks completely different to any other model on the market, and the purple ceramic pot looks great when served on the table.
A very good buy!

I bought this cooker mainly because it was half price but I am so glad that I did now. I already had two slow cookers, one small one, one larger but I loved the idea of having one just solely for making curries and spicy recipes so that the flavours wouldn't intermingle with my stews etc.
Great idea and nice size to boot!
