With so many percs to choose from, it can be easy to buy one based on its 'looks'. This machine is robust and chunky (rather than curvy and stylish) but brother - it works just fine! It is easy to clean and a pleasure to use. As with most machines, it is better to use a paper disposable filter insert, rather than just relying on the supplied mesh filter alone. Have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone who wants a sturdy capable machine - whether for 1 cup or 6 (small) cups.

Amazon Verified Purchase
Bought this coffee machine having had many 'fancy' espresso machines and I simply wanted a good old fashioned 'perc' with a hotplate. I had a cheapish one from Argos prior to this one that had a distinct plastic smell and taste every time you used it so I thought I'd go for a good quality metal one and I have to say, so far, I'm delighted.
Build quality is excellent - machine is made out of aluminium and chrome and it chunky and VERY well made. It comes with a plastic permanent filter and two paper ones (I tend to use paper ones as you just bin them and the plastic filters become a bit "yuk" fairly quickly).
The capacity is fairly small (it brews about 3 mugs of coffee at a time) which is perfect if you're working from home as it won't 'stew' on the hotplate (which incidentally works VERY well) but I could imagine this would be a problem for a larger family or dinner party - but for me at home it's perfect.
The downside is that none of it is machine washable so the jug needs to be hand washed but it's a small price to pay for such a top bit of kit.

I bought this coffee maker on the strength of the very good reviews left by other customers. I'm very glad I did and am grateful for those reviews. This machine is easy to use, brews perfect coffee, and is beautifully designed. I cannot fault it ! I would like to respond to the reviewer who complained that the coffee was 'lukewarm'. Definitely not so. My brew is always steaming hot and the hotplate keeps it so until I've emptied the carafe sometimes over an hour later. All in all I am very pleased and would definitely recommend this machine.

Coffee tastes better
This machine is good for two large mugs of coffee but makes 4 smaller mugs as well. The coffee tastes nicer than other filter machines that we have used. Read more
