Ken Langdon graduated at Edinburgh University with an Arts degree that included computer Science as well as English. A graduate trainee at computer major ICL, he was fast tracked into an Account Management role, initially selling at high level to the Aerospace industry and subsequently to Government.
As account manager he was responsible for the sale of hardware, software and IT projects. These sales were made at Board level, and his resources included technical support staff as well as junior sales people. After several successful years, he never failed to join the 100% Club, he moved into a sales line management role managing a team of more than thirty people.
From sales management he spent a year in the Sales Training and Development department and in his middle thirties found an alternative career in a small company. He joined 4 people from IBM and became a director and shareholder in Esprit Ltd, specialising in the training of account managers and sales managers. He stayed there for five years during which the business grew from five people to forty.
Since then he has been an independent trainer, consultant and author, principally in the computer and telecommunications industry but also in other areas.
He has worked for Hewlett Packard, DEC, and many other major computer companies world-wide. He has undertaken lecture tours for, amongst others, Hewlett Packard and Honeywell in America, Australia and all over Europe.
His communication course "Masterclass" is a one on one training session with senior people. Clients for this have included the Chief Executive of Barclaycard Visa and directors of Philips and BT.
He has seven years experience at Operating Board level in the Electricity Supply Board of Ireland where he assisted in the review and implementation of strategic plans.
As well as writing books his experience as a process consultant has enabled him to help publishers and authors to improve the way that they translate business concepts into books and electronic tools.
He is a non-executive director of Glenhurst Ltd, an air-conditioning supplier and contractor.
