We have had our lovely wok for just over a year. It's used at least once a week and gives us sturdy and reliable service. The cooking is good and even. It's always easy to clean after use.
A couple of weeks ago, I noticed the handle needed tightening so I got a screwdriver to do the job but realised it was already tight. Then I noticed a flaky surface on the metal welded attachment to the wok which, in turn, has the plastic handle screwed into it. Immediately I noticed that the welded attachment had actually started to detach itself from the wok. In my mind this wok has actually suffered from being heated too much - the only hot place it has ever been is on the gas stove!!! Further inspection of the stubby handle opposite the main handle shows no evidence of overheating on its metal stump but that, too, is showing to be becoming detached from the wok.
As we are out of guarantee, we seem to have no firm ground to stand on. This is in spite of our going out of our way to look after it as specified in the supplied documentation.
My conclusion: This wok can suffer from being overheated by placement on an ordinary gas cooker.
