Book Description

1 Nov 2013
With over 800 of the most closely guarded photographic “tricks of the trade,” this boxed set–consisting of all four parts of Scott Kelby’s best-selling series, The Digital Photography Book–is the ultimate resource for any one who wants to shoot dramatically better-looking, sharper, more colorful, more professional-looking photos every time.

Camera technology advances quickly, and with this boxed set now including updated editions of Parts 1 and 2, readers will find refreshed tips and tricks to be current for today's photographer. The equipment Scott uses and recommends to the reader has been updated, as well as prices, links, and pictures. In Part 1, Scott has added a new chapter, addressing the top 10 things he wishes he would've been taught when he was just starting out in photography. And, there is a whole new section in Part 2 entitled "The Seven Deadly Sins of Landscape Photography," where Scott discusses the biggest traps in landscape shots-and how to avoid them in order to create breathtaking imagery.

Scott Kelby, the man who changed the “digital darkroom” forever with his groundbreaking, best-selling The Photoshop Book for Digital Photographers, now tackles the most important side of digital photography–how to take professional-quality shots using the same tricks today’s top digital pros use (and it’s easier than you think). These aren’t books of theory, full of confusing jargon and detailed concepts. These are books on which button to push, which setting to use, and when to use it. Each page covers a single concept on how to make your photography better.

Every time you turn the page, you’ll learn another pro setting, tool, or trick to transform your work from snapshots into gallery prints. If you’re tired of shots that look “okay,” and if you’re tired of looking in photography magazines and thinking, “Why don’t my shots look like that?” then these are the books for you.

Don't get me wrong, these books are fantastic. Scott is an awesome photographer and a great teacher. But this book bundle priced wrong. Why is it cheaper to buy them separately?

5.0 out of 5 stars Professional to the core - everything I do with Photos is per Scotty Kelby 10 Feb 2014
By H. J. Tuggey - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I started at 8 years old with a Box camera before WWII.
In WWII the Argus C-3 came out and I thought I was in paradise.
When I took a college review of the Speed graphic I knew everything and then
much later I became familiar with Scott Kelby's advice and have never changed
my admiration for him and his knowledge.

Of course, there are other specialists who would go their own way but in my case Kelby's way is my way!

Now I am 84 and started taking photos when I was 8 - that makes gives me 76 years experience and I
am happy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not done with it but I think Scot Kelby is a fantastic teacher. 29 Jun 2014
By Ryan Boswell - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I would recommend this series to anyone who already understands the basics of how cameras and lenses work and have at least some basic grounding on the subject of photography already. (If you don't I HIGHLY recommend reading "The Beginner's Photography Book" by DK books first).

Scott's is one of those professionals who WANT others to know and have the skills he has. That sounds weird but some "Experts" cant help but make things too complex or have secret methods that they would rather not share with others. This is not the case with Scott. You really get from his writing that he just loves photography and he enjoys others learning it. I am not done with the whole series but I have learned so much and I have been a photo enthusiast for over 15 years.

I wouldn't call it a "beginners" series, but it is certainly excellent reading and practice for your amateur photographer or enthusiast.
