Product Description

From Orama Editions, this is now the best and most up to date map of Kefalonia and Ithaca available. Orama were the distributors for Road Editions, who have recently ceased production. Orama are now introducing improved replacements for those discontinued items. Orama constantly update their data and mapping. This latest edition 1:75 000 scale map of Kefalonia and Ithaca shows the road networks of both islands very accurately, using data produced using the industry's most advanced techniques. Road information includes forest roads and dirt tracks. Contour lines (with subtle coloured shading, which darkens with increasing altitude) give an at-a-glance guide to the terrain. Locations of plenty of points of interest such as churches gorges, peaks, caves, beaches, springs etc are labelled using a variety of icons. Accurate distances of roads are printed midway between crossroads, and locations of refuelling sites are shown too. This is a double sided map with a wealth of tourist information on the reverse.

Kefalonia map 22 Sep 2011
By Sacire
Whilst the roads were mostly okay on this map (with the exception of the Drapano Bridge which has not been usable by anything bigger than a moped for 5 years or more), the markings of many places of interest were so horrifically inaccurate as to remove any confidence that any of them were correct.

If you want to know how to get around the island, it's as accurate as any Greek map. If you want to find the ancient ruins, caves or other tourist attractions marked on the map - Forget it! It's as if the printers knew which places were supposed to be in the map and then just dropped them randomly on the image before printing. The old Road Editions we used in 2007 was pretty accurate on where to find such places as the ruined walls at Krani and caves near Sami and a comparison between that (sadly too worn and battered to use on the move) map and this version shows up huge differences. I just wish we'd made the detailed comparison before we left the UK!

Roll on holidays! 8 Feb 2011
By LynneP
Great-looking map of Kefalonia which is even better as it includes Ithaca, and we are planning to take the car over for the day. Most stuff we need appears to be on. The only disappointment so far is that although this is the 2009 version, the Drapano bridge road still appears to be the main road north, whereas it has for some years been closed to traffic!
It also seems to be coated with a waterproof covering, which will be even better.
