5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect companion to sublime series. 9 Aug 1999
By A Customer
This audio collection is an ideal companion to the hilarious series of the same name. Many of Patricia Routledge's best lines and accents are recorded, with an underlying narration from Clive Swift as the hapless Richard. Also featured are Judy Cornwell and Mary Millar as Hyacinth's lesser-off sisters, Daisy and Rose, and Geoffrey Hughes as her oafish but endearing brother-in-law Onslow. Josephine Tewson also delights as the beleaguered Elizabeth, ever trying to master a cup of coffee without incident at Hyacinth's table. The audio format is ideal for listening while driving, proving more relaxing than news or music and the divine Patricia Routledge has left such an indelible impression as the insufferable Hyacinth that the voice alone can conjure her classic gestures and inflections. Hopefully, more episodes will be released in this format.
