Book Description

Something old, something blue, something deadly…what else is new?

Secret McQueen, Book 4

It’s a nice day for a white wedding. At least that’s what Secret McQueen is hoping for, with her poofy-princess-dress marriage to a werewolf king looming closer and closer by the day. But as ever, nothing can be that easy for a vampire/werewolf hybrid for whom someone still harbors a death wish.

Summoned to the south by her werewolf uncle, who makes no bones about the fact her mate bond with Lucas doesn’t pass muster, Secret learns her furry heritage looks more like a tangled vine than a family tree. Getting her royal uncle’s blessing hinges on finding one of the missing twigs. Even with vampire sentry Holden Chancery at her side, she manages to land up to her neck in a swamp of trouble.

As an assassin’s scope zeroes in, family dramas boil up and a fast-collapsing love square threatens to bury her alive, making it to the church on time could be the least of Secret’s problems.

Warning: Contains a grumpy bride who shouldn’t be wearing wedding white, a motley crew of bridesmaids, a dangerous scenic drive in the woods and a smoking-hot trio of suitors who might be too scorching to touch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow ... didn't expect that 14 July 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I am feeling conflicted. I love this series more with each book: great action and humour, plus a spunky heroine. Secret is maturing nicely. The ultimate destination is still wide open and there are plenty of interesting turns along the way. However, I hated one of the twists in this plot and I am now on the edge of my seat waiting for the next installment. I've definitely gone off one of the love interests in Secret's life! I have my fingers crossed that it will be OK eventually. In fact, Sierra Dean seems to be setting up another situation that I am going to hate, so I hope there is wriggle room in that one too.

It's a shame I devoured this on the day it was released. Roll on the next book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Let me tell you a Secret 15 Sept. 2012

The secret: This series is awesome.

Ok so maybe not that secret.

I love the Secret McQueen character. It's lighthearted fun in a way, but with some deep stuff thrown in just enough to ensure the character isn't one dimensional.

Sierra Dean is a very entertaining author, and I am already wishing she would hurry up and write the next book.

The reason for the 3 stars:

The plot surprised me. The thing with Lucas seems to be dragging on. And there were a few plot lines that seemed silly, and nothing more than a vehicle to set Secret up with yet another difficult situation to deal with. Take the "wedding" ceremony taking place in enemy territory on the insistance of her uncle. Lucas, being a king in his own right, should have every reason to refuse, as surely, getting married in front of his own pack would be the more important factor. Not to mention, missing out on the 2nd more public wedding for the humans, because of a territory dispute, with the same uncle that also insisted on the above wedding scenario. By allowing Lucas to be bullied into these scenarios Sierra Dean made him out to be a bit spineless, and not very kingly. Not to mention letting Secret then take on most of the dangerous tasks didn't seem very alpha male of him either.

And for a very old vampire (ok not THAT old compared to the council), Holden seems a bit passive. And a little bit too willing to do what Secret wants. It smacks a bit of desperation.

Then there was the crying like a baby while wearing a white wedding dress. Oh, and near the beginning of the book when after the car chase scene when she almost faints... She seems very girly in this book, so basically not the character I've come to like so much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant! 12 July 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Okay, I am just going to admit it - I love Sierra Dean. Keeping Secret is fast paced with the snarkey humour that is Dean's trademark. There are resolutions and new conflicts. The wedding is the crux of the plot but the preriphery stories are equally riveting. We have a chance to **spoiler** meet more of Secret's family and a few more family skeletons are revealed. I can hardly wait for the next book in the series.

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable but a little lacking 1 Mar. 2013

I really enjoyed the previous Secret stories, but this one left me a little flat - engaging, but not as fun as previous stories.
