You cry, you laugh, you question, you get angry, you get frustrated. These are real people doing what real people do in times of crisis. You don't always understand or agree, but it's the way life is, or was, or how you think it might have been.

I have loved reading this series [Street at War] having been born after the war, these books have given me an insight just how close families were even if the children had been evacuated, you live along with these families, their ups and downs well written and extremely flowing have enjoyed each and every one of these books and am about to read to read the last one, knowing it's going to be as good as the rest...
I would certainly would recommend this series to anyone, an absolutely awesome read

I have read nearly all Lillian Harry's books and find them very easy to read. They are very well researched. Keep Smiling Through is one of a series of books about families living in Portsmouth during the second world war and how they deal with the anguish and horror of being bombed and their children joining the services.
