I,ve seen Eddie on several occasions in recent years, and let me say now

he's one of the very best Britain's ever had. Most of his albums are electric

based self written blues, this one is acoustic blues with the addition of

just the extra musician here and there.Eddie often does a solo set and

this album is as near as you'll get to those.A mix of self written and classic blues, beautifully played,an absolute must,...in fact all of his

albums are worth getting and enjoying over and over again.

Like blues,do yourself a favour get this and see him live,a national music

treasure.

There isn't a single bad track on here and it's one of those albums that grows on you the more you listen to it. Some of the tracks are ones that Eddie has been playing live for several years now, often on electric guitar. His new accoustic slant on these tunes is well worth hearing and demonstrates some pretty amazing guitar and harmonica techniques, that all musicians among us can learn a thing or two from. If you ever get the chance to go and see him live then go! Various venues around the country have him playing on a regular basis and you will often catch him playing tracks from this and his other albums.

This is probably Eddies best CD to date, and certainly his best acoustic album. Eddies multi talented one man band style is beatifully showcased in songs such as "mystery to me", "jumping beans" etc, and it is difficult to believe that such a skilful blend of harp and guitar can be played simulteaneously. Anybody who loves country blues will love this album. Eddie manages to pay homage to the blues greats of the past - Robert Johnson, John lee Hooker, Sonny Terry etc, without sounding cliched, and adds an unbelievable skill and energy. The excellent pianist Paddy Milner features on some tracks. The pace of the album varies nicely from the opening groove of the "Devil's Joker", through to the unusual and beatifully played Barbecue Bop in the unusual open C tuning. The ending Fox Chase harmonica solo is stunning, bringing Sonny Terry to life. I strongly recommend this album to anybody who loves blues guitar and harmonica, and guarantee it won't leave your CD player!
