Over the years the brilliantly named Haggis Horns have played with Mark Ronson, Amy Winehouse, Nightmares On Wax, Estelle and Corinne Bailey Rae, but are back now with their own funky-as-hell second album, Keep On Movin' , chock full of their trademark brass stabs over fatback grooves and drum breaks. As with their debut the album is mostly instrumental, although Nia Saw provides soulful vocals for the slower tracks. Bizarrely, Snarf from The Thundercats is sampled on The Snarf Dance (well, why not!?) and there isn't a single track you can't get down to on the dance floor, which is high acclaim in my book!

A step up in class 12 Jan 2011
By J. Lowe
Format:Audio CD
I first saw the Haggis Horns many, many moons ago when they formed the horn section to the New Mastersounds & have followed their career with interest ever since
I bought the first album & whilst I enjoyed it, it could be a bit hit & miss although that was to be expected with a debut
This however, as the review title suggests, is a complete step up in class & will hopefully see the band get the recognition they deserve in their own right beyond being backing musicians for Mark Ronson etc..
The idea of adding vocals to some of their tracks for the first time was a masterstroke & Nia Saw's vocals suit the band's tunes perfectly
If you love your funk filled with the awesome & powerful sound of blaring horns then make sure you add this record to your collection

I bought this album as an impulse after having listened and loved the first album, this release really does not disappoint if you were a fan of the debut. The Haggis Horns are a top class under rated band that I believe should receive far more credit for there quality and performing prowess.
