Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Four years on from New Jersey, Bon Jovi re-emerged with stern expressions, short hair and outfits noticeably lacking on the sequinned codpiece front. New Jersey had hinted that Jon Bon Jovi wished to be taken seriously--as seriously as Bruce Springsteen, for example--and Keep The Faith confirms this suspicion. However, while Springsteen has been able to redeem himself for his occasional buffooneries with an innate self-conscious modesty, Jon Bon Jovi's career has been characterised by a failure to get to grips with his own absurdity--this, remember, is the man who sang "I've seen a million faces/And I've rocked them all" without so much as smirking. This is why the songs on Keep The Faith where Bon Jovi attempt profundity--like the interminable, point-free "Dry Country"--are virtually unlistenable, and why such ear candy as "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead" and "Bed Of Roses" is harmlessly beguiling. --Andrew Mueller

The band 'took a break', following the lower than expected sales of New Jersey, during which time the music climate changed significantly, with grunge becoming the predominant force in rock music. KEEP THE FAITH sought to change that, and gave pure rock fans exactly what they were crying out for - huge choruses, amazing vocals and classic guitar riffs & solos - all lacking in the grunge scene. It is probably the image change that the band took at this time, which allowed them to remain at the forefront of rock music, (do we still here from 'Poison' or 'Motley Crue'?), but the music more than speaks for itself. Here we have the typical hook filled ballads, typical of Bon Jovi, such as In These Arms and Bed of Roses, huge power rock songs like Keep the Faith, I Believe and If I Was Your Mother, and classic rock'n'rollers such as Sleep when I'm Dead, Blame it on the Love of Rock'n'Roll and my personal favourite Little Bit of Soul....I would suggest you check this one out. Truly a great rock'n'roll record.

This album is simply incredible. Every single song is superb, and it is the best the band have ever produced (and thats saying somthing.) There's the awsome all out rock opener of "I believe", the clasic "keep the faith" and the awsome upbeat "I'll sleep when im dead". "in these arms" is another rocky love tune, and "Bed of Roses" is a beautiful soft ballad. Then theres possibly the best song on the album, the 10 minute Rock rollercoster of "Dry County", featuring Ritchie Sambora with one of the best Guitar solos you'll ever hear. I could describe all the tracks, becuase they certainly all deserve it, but i'll just say if you like Bon Jovi in any way at all, and you all should, then buy this album. It's an absolute masterpiece,

It says something about the quality of 'Keep the Faith' when an album as good as 'These Days' can't hold a candle to it. This has always been my favourite Bon Jovi album and unless they can pull something out of the bag with future releases then this will always be their greatest work.

It startles me to find 5 star reviews of Crush, Bounce, Have a Nice Day and Lost Highway because none of them have been anywhere near the level of songwriting and musicianship of Keep the Faith. This is a truly brilliant piece of work that I doubt the band will ever better.
