From the Author
The stories about Katie the Paramedic's adventures are written for children aged between 4 and 10 years old who are interested in helping people and learning about first-aid. The pictures have been beautifully drawn by the author's 11-year old daughter Katie and some of her friends.
About the Author
Lysa Walder is a mother of three and has worked as a paramedic for 16 years with the London Ambulance Service.
Originally after leaving school however, Lysa spent four wonderful years working in a travelling circus. She performed as a trapeze artist, juggled, walked on a huge globe, rode a horse and had a brief role as a ring-mistress before leaving to do something much more sensible.
Lysa also volunteers with the charity `The Uncut Project', which seeks to address the issues of knife crime amongst young people through presentations at schools.
Lysa Walder has also recently released her book "999: True Stories of my Life as a Paramedic", published by John Blake.
Her collection of stories from the frontline of the biggest and busiest free ambulance service in the world describes scenes of terrible tragedy, loss and humour and tells of the world behind the flashing blue lights and screaming sirens.
