The first part of the book is dedicated to educating the reader, who she assumes is female, about weight training. She dispels the myths about 'bulking up' and losing your femininity, lists the health and fitness advantages and inspires with her encouragement to lead to on the path to a new body. She also goes through muscles and all the safety knowledge you need to avoid injury.
The exercises are split into different areas of the body. The workout plan, for it is a 12 week plan initially, should only take 20 minutes and is split into 3 blocks of 4 weeks. The exercise whilst tackling the same areas of the body get more complicated as you progress. The plan is both a home and gym workout. At home you use dumbbells and your body weight and at the gym you use the machines which she suggests. All exercises and equipment is clearly pictured in big photos. These are accompanied with diet recommendation.
This book is perfect for women intimidated by strength training and are new to the discipline. Strength training has changed by body shape in a way that years of aerobics has not been able to. I highly recommend it!!
The instructions are good, and pictures, clear. A great choice if you want to firm up and slim down. This is just as good as Denise Austin's "Hit the Spot" series, but both work well; I'd definitely recommend this book.
