I decided to buy this product because I was looking for a product that was effective against both hairballs and constipation.

It is a lubricant and is made of white soft paraffin, cod liver oil and malt extracts. It works by
preventing water from absorbing from the colon into the bloodstream which results in food and hairballs passing through their systems a lot smoother and quicker.

One of my cats has a really big, thick, fluffy coat and seems to be licking himself all day which results in his vomiting large cocoons of condensed hair which resembles cat faeces. Brushing him daily to remove the excess hair does not resolve the problem therefore we give him 2 servings a day of the paste (morning and night) and it completely stops him from having any hairballs. The amount on the paste that we give him is about 1 inch long.

Another cat that we have suffers from constipation from time to time and will sit in her litter pan for 30 mins at a time, several times a day and is relieved of her problems when we give her 1 inch of the paste, X2 a day. It only takes about 5-6 hours to take effect and works very well. Although she refuses to take it directly off our fingers, we smear it around her mouth and she licks it off.

They have not had any side affects as a result of taking it and although it's not cheap, it's cheaper than buying it through your veterinary practice and is worth buying in order to improve your cats health.

I have tried several different hairball and constipation products in the past and none have been as effective as this product.

10/10

Katalax helps tremendously with fur-balls in cats and keeps things moving smoothly along, resulting in less vomiting! I had previously bought this at a much inflated price from a vet's practice. However, I was over the moon when I found it cheaper on Amazon. It arrived within a couple of days which I was even more pleased about. Both my cats are quite fussy but they will both take this paste, which comes in a tube, straight from my finger because they like the taste. Even if your cat won't do that, all you have to do is wipe it on their paw and they will lick it off. Brilliant!

My cat had had this fur ball for a while and it was now starting to leave her wheezing at night. She was not in distress otherwise I would have taken her to the Vet. My friend had an indoor cat and gave him Katalax, so suggest it. Fantastic. Within 3/4 days it had gone. However my cat didn't like the taste and was most disgusted when I put it on her paw because she wouldn't eat it in her food and although it stains your finger it doesn't stain the cat.

With two long haired cats in the family fur balls have been a constant presence/threat in our home. Iams hairball formula provided some respite for one feline who eats mostly dry food but our vet suggested we also try Katalax. It has proven very successful.

Katalax is a thick brown substance that has the consistency of tubed tomato puree. You need to squeeze out an inch onto a finger tip and both cats (usually) lick and consume the paste with gusto. Both are VERY fussy eaters, so Katalax would appear to be a highly palatable mixture and I have even managed to get one of them to take their worming tablet hidden within the paste.

I initially administered Katalax twice a day for a week and by the end of the second day the coughs that alert us to the problem all but ceased. The incidence of 'fur ball on carpet' has diminished by 90%, considerably reducing the amount of the OxyPro Pet we have to purchase to remove stains. In conjunction with the Iams, Katalax has certainly helped reduce fur ball production and is definitely worth trying if your cat has a similar issue.

My cat has always been prone to furballs. When he had one, he would throw up all over the house. Then he would go outside to eat some plants to self-medicate and come in and throw up some more. This would happen several times a month. Since we've started giving him Katalax, he hardly every throws up (thankfully!). I would highly recommend this product!

She doesn't like it so I started to mix it in her food. However every time she had it she was sick so I have stopped giving it to her.

This is great stuff for cats like mine that seem to produce endless hairballs in the most difficult places to clean. Poppy will take it off my finger and it works wonders for her. Hat won't take it at all which is a shame because tortoiseshell coloured sausages in my bed are not my idea of fun. I have tried the wiping it on her paws trick but she runs round the house shaking it everywhere. Unfortunately i have had to give up with her but a reduction of 50% in the fur ball stakes is well worth it! I was also quoted a ridiculous price by my vet - over £30 a tube - so this is great value - thanks!
