I bought this bag after viewing the Lowepro Fastpack 200 - I'd got my mind set on that, so went into a camera shop to have a look & try it on before buying it a reasonable price on Amazon rather than high street prices (not that I'm advocating using high street stores as a "changing room" for trying out things first!!!!) Anyway, had a look & thought was ok but then saw this Kata bag on the rail as well. Had a good look over it, tried it on & thought - miles better! There's better compartments for the camera stuff, seems a larger upper section for non-camera stuff, rain-cover (don't get one with the Lowepro), the whole bottom divider section comes out to turn it into just a bag, little mesh bag unzips out the side to put a tripod into, the straps are very comfy (& it has waist & chest straps unlike the Lowepro). And, not being a Lowepro, it doesn't scream 'camera bag' to thieving types at airports & dodgy locations. I'm not slating the Lowepro - the huge amounts of people who own them can't all be wrong; but this bag seems to outdo it in most areas. And it's nice to have something a bit unusual & not follow the crowd. The bag feels really comfy when full of gear, and the camera is easy to get out from the bottom section. I would defintely recommend this bag, expecially at the excellent Amazon price (nearly half the price I saw it in the shop for).

After weeks of looking at numerous camera bags, I decided I needed one which fitted my needs as a beginner with a DSLR camera and a as hiker. I needed a day bag which wasn't too expensive (as they all seem to be) but was robust enough to look after my kit when I was up mountains and also big enough to hold some food/drink supplies. This one is one of the best designed I've seen around which has lots to offer for your money and could easily be compared to better brands. The bag itself is made from a tough material which is coupled with a really high build quality. What's great about this bag is that it also comes with a detachable rain cover which has come in very handy. I noticed some of the bigger brands do not have a cover which is no good for the unpredictable Great British weather! The back ventilation system works well and it's a neat all-round day bag with adjustable arm straps, an adjustable chest strap and an adjustable waist strap - there's even a little zip out holder for your drinks bottle!
The 6 well padded camera & accessory compartments at the bottom store my DSLR with 18-55mm lens attached, 2 other lenses, battery charger and hood and I keep my USB lead in one of the three zipped pockets - and there still seems like there's lots of room for other things (which I don't have yet but give me time). The top of the bag has plenty of space for food, drinks, thin waterproofs etc (which is ideal for me as a hiker), and there's also little pockets at the back for you phone, pens etc. One thing it is missing is a tripod holder, but I managed to strap mine into one of the straps (just!).
All in all, Im very happy I found this day/camera bag and pleased I shopped around! It's neat and looks great - and most importantly I know my camera will be kept safe and dry!!

I spent some time searching for a camera backpack that would replace my Lowepro. I was looking for the one which doesn't scream I'm "camera bag" for security reasons and allows all my photo gear to be safely stored and comfortably carried but also quickly accessed. (Nikon D90, 2 telephoto lenses, 1 prime 50mm plus cards, filters, cables, battery charger and other useful stuff with prospect to fit one more lens and/or a flash in future.)

On opening the package when it arrived, I was impressed by how well produced and useful the Kata DR-465 looked. The bag looks like a a nice regular backpack, which I like a lot, because it's a lot more discreet when you travel.

The bottom bag's interior is fully customizable to suit the photographers' individual needs. However if somebody expect to carry one of the big telephoto lens like Nikon 70-200 f2.8 must look for bigger model.
Top compartment is really big and has enough room for other assorted items. Side water bottle holder fits small bottle.
The material used is very good quality.

Pros: Excellent construction, light and strong. Fast and easy access to your equipment. Price.

Cons: I wish the zippers had bigger holes for travel locks.

All Kata products have 5 year limited warranty.
On producer website you can register your bag and KATA offers lifetime service.
I highly recommend this backpack for your camera gear.
I will be looking at KATA bags first when I have future needs.

I ordered this bag to carry around my DSLR and Sony Handycam. I do a fair amount of walking in the countryside and am constantly frustrated by the number of bags I seem to end up carrying and the difficulty accessing my stuff on the move.

The bag is easy to carry with plenty of space for the two cameras, spare batteries, tapes and cable. Handy little waterproof cover for the bag is included.

Because the camera compartment folds down without opening up totally, you don't need to put the bag down to access your equipment (as with many other camera bags) and you still have room in the top compartment for coat, food & drink. Straps also provide for carrying tripod, walking sticks, etc.

It's a small bag, so don't expect to get a huge amount of equipment in it but for the price, it's a really handy item.
