Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Kata's 3N1 has quickly become legendary in its field, offering serious photographers a comfortable, quick access carrying solution. Great reviews for the 3N1 include a win in Practical Photography and Digital Photo magazines "Gear of the Year" awards 2009.

Superior protection by TST RIB structure is offered for a DSLR with battery grip, with zoom lens attached, plus 4-5 lenses, flash and laptop upto 15.4".

The 3N1's unique harness system gives the ultimate freedom, offering three carrying options in one, morphing from sling-pack to backpack and back again.

In sling position, the bag easily swings around from back to front to achieve quick-draw access to your main camera and back-up lenses. Either strap can be set up in sling format, and the bag has a quick-draw opening on both sides, so can be customised to suit both left handed and right handed users without any compromises.

If you're carrying your gear for a longer period, simply adjust the harness to backpack or "X" position. Spreading the weight of your gear across both shoulders adds long-distance comfort.

Your equipment can be arranged in the bottom compartment of the bag, with modular dividers that can be moved around to suit your kit. The top compartment is ideal for holding personal or additional gear - lunch, waterproof or occasional extra lens. You'll find extra pockets in here for an MP3 player, and other small items. The divider between top and bottom compartments can be unzipped to create on big space when needed.

Two further external pockets allow quick, zippered access to accessories without opening the main compartments. Ideal for carrying your mobile phone, they also work brilliantly as a way of seperating full and empty media cards.

The included rain cover folds neatly away into an integrated pouch, and can be hung out to dry using the small buxkle next to the carrying handle, or tucked away for storage into one of the pockets.

The sling backpack is also trolley compatible. Add it to Kata's InsertTrolley, or over the handle of your rolling suitcase to make trips through the airport/station hassle-free.

Are you a tripod user? An optional Tripod Holder STH-3N1 is available for lightweight travel tripods up to 2kg in weight - search for 3N1 tripod holder.

Great little bag. I cn fit my cannon d500, 2 lenses, and cables in the mail body. A paperback or two in the top compartment plus room for your wallet and phone. My iPad 2 (plus smart cover) fits perfectly snugly in the laptop section too. All this makes for an excellent little piece of hand luggage, or a carryall for your excursions.

[edit after using for 2 years]

This bag is still, by far, the best small camera back-pack I've ever had. The quality has held up to 2 years of multiple overseas holidays and 2 house moves. While I'm not sure it'd stand up to the abuse of a professional photographer, mins still looks brand new 2 years later.

I bought this to not only take my camera & things out and about, but also to store my stuff in at home.

Storage then:

In the very top pocket; Nissin di-622Mk11 Flash, stofen, rocket blower, lens pen and Hoya 72mm Pro1 CPL filter, lens cleaning fluid.

In the side pockets; Spare battery, 55mm Hoya Pro 1 CPL, lens cap, lens tissues

Lap top sleave; Battery charger & lead.

Main body; Canon 7D with Tamron 17-50mm f2.8vc attached, lens hood reversed. Canon 85mm f1.8 with hood reversed.
There is till space for another lens in the main body.

I like it's sling/back pack options and the yellow interior, so you can easily see what you're looking for etc...

It's very well constructed, and so I recommend this bag if it's the right size for you.

I purchased this for a GF1 and extra equipment. it will easily hold the GF1 plus 45-200mm m4/3 lens and still give room for two extra lenses, filters, SD cards etc all in the main compartment. This still leaves the two side compartments free for any extra (small) equipment or mobile phone/wallet. The top compartment has room for passport & sunglasses or extra personal items or I have a thin rain jacket which can be crunched up to fit in. The laptop sleeve is a bit of a misnomer as I'm not sure what laptop exactly you could fit in there, iPad or tablet without a case OK. However, having said that it is excellent for storing manuals, maps, guide books etc and for this purpose is invaluable. I can also get a 12" reflector in it's case stored in there.

it is nice design and a good alternative as to the L-P bags. the brand has better design concept than L-P for multi-purposes bags based on the main purpose of photograph, while L-P bags seem for cameras ONLY in their design without considering a document space for journalists, extra space for other gears and must haves in a practical situation, which is disunderstandable and very disappointed. you would have better protaction for your cameras with L-P, but most likely end up with another bag or bags for your journey while carrying a L-P.

Kata 3N1-11 is a comfort to users in terms of the above disappointments on L-P. nice attempt to overtake L-P in this aspect but still need to do a lot jobs on its professionalism of photograph purpose. it is nice for a urban photographical tour but maybe a little bit struggling when you use it in a tough photographical situation.

the small chamber for laptop in 3N1-11 is not really practical, but I am happy with using the space for other purpose, for example a storage space for lines, caps, etc.
