Product Description

To give your knives a professional razor sharp finish you will also need the Kasumi® super / superfine combination whetstone. After sharpening your knives with the #240 grit and / or the #1000 grit, proceed with the #3000 fine grit. After the #3000 fine grit, proceed with the #8000 grit. The #8000 grit has been specially developed for super finishing Kasumi® knives. The #8000 grit is almost the same grit and quality of a natural whetstone used to sharpen Japanese Samurai swords. You will find that the combination #3000 / #8000 will give your Kasumi® knives a beautiful mirror edge just like the edge of a Samurai sword. I've used this on a variety of Japanese knives, (Shun, Kasumi and Tamahagane), with excellent results. I have a a 1000 grit too for shaping, then the 3000 and then 8000. Then hone on a leather strop with some honing paste for an incredible mirror finish. Good knives deserve this kind of love.

The small levelling/cleaning stone included is essential too, to keep whetsones in pefect condition.

An excellent finishing stone for a mirror finish. However, this stone is not for the inexperienced as it is quite soft and can be damaged by over enthusiastic stropping. With time this stone will start to wear so a flattening stone would also be a wise purchse.
Treated gently this stone will be helping you shave your hairy bits for years to come.
