Watch out for sizing 25 Feb 2010
Colour Name:Navy/Pewter|Size Name:5 UK
This is a nice, lightweight walking shoe which, at face value, seems to be good value for the price.
I have yet to walk any long distances in it so can't comment on comfort or 'fit for purpose' yet.
But do watch out for sizing per other reviewers' comments.
I normally take a size 4.5 in normal shoes and boots. I ordered the size 5 which was too small so now have a size 6.

Very tight fit 5 Mar 2010
Colour Name:Navy/Pewter|Size Name:9 UK
I wish I'd read more of the comments before I ordered. The shoes are very well made and look great. But the sizing is exceptionally narrow. I don't have wide feet, and have never struggled with any other shoes. Definately not designed to allow thicker walking socks to be worn, which kind of defeats the object of buying hiking shoes. Also I don't think a larger size would help, as they would be too long, and probably not much wider, so once again not the best for a comfortable days walking.

I bought a pair of these in the expectation of being able to use them for general hill walking. Quite frankly, calling these hiking shoes is a serious breach of the trade descriptions act - reasons as follows:

* Blue suede uppers mark & stain very easily - will last about 10 minutes. Mine stained on the first day
* Not waterproof! Soak up water unless sprayed with wate repellant
* Very thin sole - totally unsuitable for walking on gravel / stones
* Good grip from front of sole but smooth tread on heel - a total liability for going downhill especially on wet grass or mud
* Very comfortable on the foot - like wearing slippers and provide only slightly more protection

Summary: These are LEISURE SHOES suitable for walking on pavement or nipping out to the shops. They are totally unsuitable for any moderately serious exercise.

If you want a good walking shoe at a similar price I would strongly recommend the Grisport Dartmoor.

Not good for hypermobile feet/ tight calf muscles
These shoes gave me achilles tendinitis unfortunately. I only wore them for 2-4 days, spaced out over a few weeks, but not with good results.

Cheap and it shows
Although these shoes came with a massive discount, at least agiant the claimed RRP, it would not be fair to say that they represent value for money. Read more

Not great when you live in the UK
Was initially pleased with these, but quickly found that the grip is really poor and I now won't wear them if it rains - not great when you live in the UK sorry Karrimor!
