Product Description

Review

'This rich story is told in exemplary fashion, ably backed by maps, plans, and appropriate illustrations' - Minerva

'I cannot be too enthusiastic about this volume. Incorporating the latest research on the temple, the author provides a wealth of information that will enhance any visit to the temple... Do buy this book... if you have visited the temple and know it well, you will gain a better understanding of it, and if you are about to visit, the book will give you an excellent and comprehensive introduction to the complex and amazing site.' - Ancient Egypt

"A complement to the archaeological excavations that must necessarily focus on the careful and extremely detailed study of small areas, this overview of the entire temple, beside being interesting and important on its own, may also provide the basis for future studies on its general layout, distribution and internal organization." Corinna Rossi, Collegio di Milano

EXCELLENT WORK 18 April 2007
Format:Paperback
A thoroughly enjoyable read. I am glad we have someone produce a work of such a high calibre, and fill the gap in the market for books on Karnak.

It will be of great interest to both the budding egyptologist, a layman, and egyptologist too. The book is very well presented with lots of intersting facts.

Once you start reading you will not want to put it down.

Well done, hope to see more books from this author.

Be careful 21 Mar 2008
Format:Paperback
This book is very good as far as it goes. It is a rather stolid description of how the temple was rebuilt and altered by a sucession of pharoahs. What it lacks is description of the daily life of the temple. How was the temple was used? Who lived in the temple and its vicinity? What did they do? You won't find the answers here. The research given to the daily life of the village of Medina is needed, but maybe that's the province of another book by someone.

I've only just received my book from Amazon but I am so excited. It's about time that a good book on Karnak was published in English and I'd like to thank Elizabeth Blyth very much for filling the gap. A few years ago I wrote a dissertation about Karnak Temple-as it's my favourite Egyptian monument-and finding research that had been written in English was a nightmare.I can't wait to start reading!Once again many thanks Elizabeth.
